A co-workers Dell Inspirion 1564 laptop, random BSoD after a few hours of being powered on. Would love to avoid doing a system restore for her if possible.

Welcome

Your dump is of 09-09-2012, did you get any BSoD after that?

According to her it had blue screened earlier in the day while she was lesson planning, the files I attached were from a brand new install of your file, downloaded & installed when she handed me the laptop.

Ended up wiping it all, turns out she had norton, mcaffee, & a few others all installed & running on her system at once, along with some suspicious "free" software. Had a stress test run all night & no crash after the reformat.

Oh well! Congrats on the good job.

I would point those out, but my concern was to get rid of just that one which caused the BSoD.
(Norton & McAfee are a known cause of BSoDs)

I and many members on our forum recommend MSE and MBAM. (Free)

:ar: http://www.sevenforums.com/system-security/206705-good-free-system-security-combination.html
:ar: Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
:ar: Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer

Good luck and you can mark this thread as solved. :)

Thanks for the .dmp check, I really do appreciate your help with that. I will get her setup with a single anti-virus program to go with her fresh install. If I come across any other BSoD issues I will use this site again.

Just to add my opinion, I would seriously consider doing a clean install on that laptop, god only knows whats left on it!! I'm sure we could assist you with the process!!

Thanks

Ended up doing a clean OS install last night, finished it up about 11:30pm (windows updates too awhile & the dell driver CD leaves a lot to be desired) Did a complete format & win 7 install (her friend had deleted the dell system restore software & partition)
