Hi all,

My PC have been getting BSOD randomly, even when i'm not doing anything on my PC.
From what i see in bluescreenview, the error is pointing towards this 3 main files, atikmpag.sys, dxgkrnl.sys and dxgmms1.sys.

I've actually googled for some solution before posting here, and i've used DDU to uninstall the driver, and reinstall my GPU driver without the catalyst software. (using a ATI HD7870)

Reinstalling the GPU driver does not work for me, hopefully someone here can help me.

If you need other info, i will provide them ASAP.

Thanks

Hi garbageman,

Welcome to the 7forums.

Please uninstall everything of AMD using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from AMD again.

Please make sure there is NO dust inside the case and the GPU is properly seated, if needed reseat it.
Please note the temperatures of the GPU when idle and under load and post them.

Run Furmark to test your GPU. Furmark tutorial

   Note
Run Furmark for around 30 minutes

   Warning
Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if temperatures rise too high

I have ran furmark for 30mins, there seems to be no weird artifact on the screen.
The highest temperature it reached was 90c, while the lowest was 46c.
Currently it's idling at 45~46c

Is there a log that i need to upload? i can't find it.

I have also clean out my casing of all the dust.

That might help.
I'd say test your system although the crashes happen randomly.

I'll just use my PC as per normal for a few days and see whether is there anymore BSOD.
I'll update again if anything happens, thanks!

One more thing, are the temperature normal for the furmark test?

Furmark stresses your GPU so the temperatures are rising very quick.
Such temperatures can damage your GPU due to the heat it creates, the reason why you need to abort the test at around 85C is to prevent it. If you do so, Furmark is perfectly safe to run.
