Solved BSOD right after login error 0x7f caused by ntoskrnl.exe+7efc0

Although i know the cause, i have no clue on how to fix it.


I have tried the following:
Memory scans - nothing there
Disk scans - nothing there
Done startup scans - nothing there
Done cmd scans - nothing there
rootkit scans - nothing there

I have added the rest of the info in the .rar

Any help would be amazing

I am currently in safetymode as normal login does not work. (due to the BSOD)

Usual causes: Memory corruption, Hardware (memory in particular), Overclocking failure, Installing a faulty or mismatched hardware (especially memory) or a failure after installing it, 3rd party firewall, Device drivers, SCSI/network/BIOS updates needed, Improperly seated cards, Incompatible storage devices, Overclocking, Virus scanner, Backup tool, Bad motherboard, Missing Service Pack

As your dumps are not giving adequate information, We may start with some point.

► Uninstall Daemon tools. It is a well known cause of BSOD crashes.

► Uninstall AVG. Uninstall Norton and all Symentec products too, using Norton Removal tool.Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner. Download and install those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

► Make some space free in C drive. As it is very little space left there.

► Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight, per RAM module per slot.

Is the computer in warranty? Let us know. Also let us know the results of these steps. If all failed, we will take another way, will think about the device drivers.

I have a 3 year warranty on it.

But i would rather fix it myself, or else it will probably be gone the entire month in repairs.

Removing daemon tools, avg and Norton changed nothing
Got nothing on the virus scans either


Gonna have to wait a few hours for a friend to come over with the empty CD for the RAMtest

Yeah. The RAM test was fine, no errors found

Guess the driver is where the problem is at.

Is there any further crashes during these three days? If so, upload the dumps if they supply any other information.

There has not been any crashes. It only crashes when i start it up without safemode.

If you uninstall Daemon tools, and free up startup, I guess this crash also will not be there.

Free up the startup.

1. Click on the Start button
2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
3. Select the “Startup” tab.
4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
5. Apply > OK
6. Accept the restart.

Still crashed. It might just be the timing, but it did take longer for it to crash though, it seemed as if it happened just as i opened skype.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Nothing so far.

But will this give an accurate result? Since i am in safemode, not all the drivers are loaded

In safemode, DV will not give the expect result. Can you not boot in normal mode? Let us know.

I might just have figured out the cause. Right now my PC is booted normally, but just as i opened skype it crashed. Without opening Skype it is working perfectly.

What to do?

Nevermind, crashed after a while, but disabling all the start programs seems do have made a difference.
