Hi all,

Looking for a little help. I have a HP ProBook 4530s that I just got a couple months ago and have not been able to rip/burn any DVDs since. I am using DVDFab 8 (same version I used on my old laptop with no issues). The DVD rips to my HD and my laptp ejects the disk. While DVD fab is displaying a message that it is searching for writable media at my DVD drive, I receive a BSOD.

I have attached the log files for you to look at. I have seen some other threads online with people with the same laptop with the same issue but have never seen a solution.

Any help would be appreciated!

Arc - I enabled Driver Verifier following the directions you linked to. I am still having the same issue. DVD Fab will rip the entire disk, eject it and display a message stating "Detecting Writable Media Drive F:" for a few seconds and then I get the BSOD. Attached are logs created immediately after I rebooted.

You can try three alternatives here:

  • Disable the Wireless Network Connection, and then enable the Wireless Network Connection.
  • Restart the WLAN AutoConfig service (Wlansvc).
  • Contact the independent hardware vendor (IHV) provider for your hardware.

► I would suggest you to update two network drivers.

Those are:

  • Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller; and
  • Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter
To update those drivers, First, download the network card driver from manufactuer's website.
Then reinstall the driver:

  1. Click the Start Button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Start Menu Search box and press Enter.
  2. Double click to expand "Network adaptors".
  3. Right click your network card and click Uninstall.
  4. Check "Delete driver software for this device" check box, click OK.
  5. Restart the computer
  6. If windows does not auto configure the appropriate drivers at startup, install the downloaded one manually.

Check two things:

  • your ripping programs settings, action after rip. Set it to none.
  • Your PSU, if it faults.

Arc - I updated the drivers you mentioned.

I checked DVD Fab and didn't see an option for "do nothing" once done ripping. I did change the output destination from my DVD drive (F: )to a folder on my C: drive. The file finished ripping as per normal and did not BSOD after. I then inserted blank media into my DVD drive and selected the source of the media on my C: and set the destination as my DVD drive F:.

It is currently burning. And I have not received a BSOD yet. However, this is not truly a fix but a workaround. I have installed DVD Fab on 5 different computers and this HP Laptop is the only one I have to do this with. All others I can leave the destination as the DVD drive and it rips the media to a temp folder, then writes to the DVD drive and deletes the temp files. This is how I would like this Laptop to work as well.

Timo, every computer is different based on its environment. So all the settings may not work essentially identical all the times, and on all the machines.

However, if you still using the driver verifier, disable it, and notice how the computer works. If needed, we may suggest to enable it again.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Arc - I appreciate what you have helped me with so far.

However, I don't believe any of the drivers you had me update have addressed the original issue I reported as they were all network related drivers and I never noticed any network related issues beforehand.

The only thing we have done is regarding the ripping/burning issue is told DVD Fab to not burn the disk automatically. The laptop should be able to do this without an issue. If you don't think you can fix this issue or have no further suggestions, please point me to someone else or another forum that may be able to assist.

:sarc: I really hope this isn't how you guys treat everyone looking for help. I searched for days trying to find solutions, even using google :sarc:.

I DO appreciate the help Arc has provided. Again, the original issue has not been addressed and all I asked for was direction if he didn't know how to fix the issue. If this hurt someone's feelings (boohbah) I'm sorry. It is ok to admit if you don't have an answer, I work in the tech field as well, people appreciate it more if you are up front with them.
