BSOD roughly once a day (0x0000001e)

Most days, and usually just overnight, my computer will BSOD with a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I'm not running any particular programs overnight, and it doesn't happen *every* day, but probably about 3 out of 4 days.

I grabbed the most recent drivers for my computer (to the best of my knowledge) and got all the Windows updates, but it doesn't seem to have helped.

The basic details are below, and I've attached the DM logs and a screenshot.

(I've noticed that while the BSOD is showing, my fans run at full speed. Any idea why? It doesn't seem necessary.)

The BSOD is caused by Intel Rapid Storage. And it is used as the RAID setup here.

I personally believe that RAID is always problematic, but sometimes it is necessary depending on the usage of the computer. So it is always better to get rid of it. And that is the only feasible long term solution. But the entire process is destructive,you will need to disable RAID in the BIOS and then do a clean reinstall of windows with AHCI controllers.

Not suggesting to follow it at this very initial stage. As the driver is old, let us see how a driver update goes. Go to Drivers & Downloads | Dell US and search for any possible upload to the Intel Rapid Storage Technology RAID driver. Apply the update. See how it goes.

Let us know the result. Further actions will be needed if nothing is changed.

Two more things ....

You dont need so many startup items. Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.

1. Click on the Start button
2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
3. Select the “Startup” tab.
4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
5. Apply > OK
6. Accept then restart.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :

• Double click to open it.
• Click this button only:
• 
• If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.

Thanks, I've installed the newer driver and removed most of the startup items. I'll see how that goes for the next couple days.

The Dell page didn't seem to have the right version of the driver. Went to Intel's page instead and found it. Everything seems OK now, thanks!
