Hello, everytime I am running the full system scan of Norton Internet Security the system runs into a BSOD.

This happens shorty after the start of the scan. The system says goodbye within 1..2 seconds after starting the scan.

Welcome to the forum.

Could you say a temporary Goodbye to Norton? Uninstall Norton and use MSE in its place.

Microsoft Security Essentials is recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability
compared to other antivirus or internet security software. It is free and lightweight:-
   Warning
Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

MSINFO32:
  • Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
  • Save the report as an .nfo file, then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
  • Also, save a copy as a .txt file and include it also (it's much more difficult to read, but we have greater success in getting the info from it).

Thanks for the welcome and for your support.

I removed Norton and installed the sw as proposed.

The system info created after the set-up is stored in the attached zip-file.

Actual Status: No BSODs after de-installing NIS and switching to MSE.

In the meantime I had
- 2 scans of MSE and malwarebytes
- a 6 hours run of Prime95

All checks were successful without errors.

Well, no more BSOD since de-installing Norton Internet Security.

Anyone a guess what caused the BSODs?

Is it NIS doing strange things to a proper system or do I have to put some efforts in finding the "real" problem in my system?

Thanks again for your support,
Helmut

I'm not sure what you mean. But Norton is a well know cause of BSODs, and removing it has hade you stop having them. It would appear you have found that the cause was Norton. I hope that answers your question. If not, please explain and I'll try to give you an answer. I don't know exactly what Norton does, other than put a lot of registry entries in places it shouldn't, apparently, but whatever it does, it causes a lot of people, like you, to have problems.
