So i bought this new card (xfx radeon r7 250 2gb version) for my acer aspire x1402g (220watt PSU) desktop ,it worked fine for 2 weeks and recently started seeing screen artifacts and display driver has stopped responding and recovered,it has stopped me from using anything tht uses 3d or hd (playing games, watching videos, windows aero). Ive tried everything from installing latest drivers to older ones ,still the same, editing regedit tdrdelay to 8 seconds ,still nothing, resiting video card, underclocked card, same ,Im lost as to what to do next ,the card it self doesnt seem to be running hot at all , ive checked temps ,what possible can i do to fix this computer .. any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi wickedjov,

Welcome to the 7forums :)

As I find a 220W PSU too less personally I'm wondering if you've bought the right GPU.
From what I found, AMD Radeon™ R7 250 Core Edition - Low Profile - R7-250A-CLF4, the minimum requirement is a 400W PSU.
NOTE: I do not know if it is the same GPU as you have for sure.

There are certain factors that come look at it, for example
  • The amount of usage on the GPU,
  • Possible settings in the software and/or BIOS that may put stress on the GPU.
  • Cooling,
  • Seating,
  • etc.
You have mentioned to have done some things already, I included them only as example :)

I do not know how much you've used your GPU and how much stress it puts on the GPU, but it is possible that you're GPU is simply faulty.

I'd say either your GPU is faulty or your PSU is insufficient. You could test your GPU in another system to see if it is faulty.

Then it may be a cause least frequently occuring, a faulty slot in the motherboad.
