BSOD seemingly at random

I started having BSOD issues with this PC some months back, when I was using an ATI card that was a bit behind the times. I thought it was a faulty graphics card causing it, so I swapped it out with a spare I had and that seemed to fix the issue - no more BSOD boot loops. I recently (just before Christmas) changed that out to a new nVidia 970GTX, but before too long I ran into a few blue screen errors. These would only happen at random. Four so far since the new card - two while browsing the web, one right after quitting Counterstrike Global Offensive (while clicking something in Chrome) and one not log after I got the Win7 login prompt after the BSOD mentioned just prior.

Attached are the files generated by the DM Log tool. A quick perusal shows several old DMP files. I had many many issues with the old ATI card that (seemingly) started it all.

Another point of data: Last night, my mouse suddenly stop responding, and Windows put out the "hardware disconnected" sound. As I got down to check it out, I moved it to another port, but the whole system was locked up by the time I could test it. Took a bit for it to come back online after a reboot, as well. Not sure if that's something, or just a fluke.

I have updated the video card's drivers, but that didn't help.

Hope you guys can help; I'm a decent enough troubleshooter, but I've never been very good at piecing together dmp files - hopefully I'll learn something.

Thanks!

M.

Hello, meversbergii I will try to help you with the problem. First I need you to do some things for me.

Please fill out your System Specs

   Information
Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible.

If you will go to your last post and click the 'System Specs' in the bottom left of the post, you will find a link to update your system specs. Please fill those out in as much detail as possible, making sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you would like to know what we would like, you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post to see mine. If you do not know what your components are, this will help you accomplish this task. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html

open an elevated command prompt ( click start, type cmd in the search box, right click on the cmd entry and select run as administrator) in the black box that opens, copy/paste sfc /scannow. If you decide to type it, notice the space between the sfc and the /. It is a system file checker which will scan your system files and attempt to correct any missing or corrupt files. What we want are the results to say windows found no integrity violations. If it says files were found but could not be repaired, close the box, reboot and run it again, after opening the administrative command prompt. You may have to reboot and run it three times for it to repair all system files. If it can't repair them after 3 reboots, let us know.

All of the last 4 dump files have been the same error

System specs are updated!

Good catch on the SP1; must have forgotten to update from my last reinstall. I will give the system file repair a couple runs, and reinstall those graphics drivers, once I escape the office today. I'm surprised it's GFX driver related, but has not reeared it's head on any graphics intense applications - crashes on Facebook, but Counterstrike. Thanks!

M.
