Just a little background information:

I've used computers my entire life, but never encountered a problem such as this. I don't understand a lot of the jargon, so please forgive my ignorance. I just know how to use a computer...not fix them...but hopefully, with your help, that will change.

Prior to the BSOD:

I just upgraded from Vista to 7 and have been adding the typical programs to the hard drive such as avast!, CCleaner, Defraggler, etc. Well, avast! kept blocking websites such as Pandora and after trying to fix this problem and speaking with a customer service rep, I uninstalled it and downloaded AVG Anti Virus. AVG came with a few extra programs that I didn't want, so I uninstalled them, but kept AVG. I then scanned my laptop, deleted all the extra junk, defragged it and went to sleep. The computer was hibernating.

Come morning time, I downloaded Photoshop and proceeded to install it when I was prompted to restart my computer because another program required it. So...I restart it and I've been plagued by the BSOD ever since.

STOP: 0x0000006B

I've been doing some research and I can't fix it. I tried loading it in safe mode, but I keep getting the BSOD. I tried booting it from the same USB that I used to install Windows 7, but it keeps sending me to the installation screen. I tried multiple restore points, system repairs and booting it from the last successful configuration...NOTHING. I, somehow, was able to reach a menu that allowed me to choose which drivers I wanted to load, so I searched for the boot cache file to see if I could delete it, except it wasn't there.

I made the mistake of moving my business files from my external hard drive to my hard drive, instead of copying them, so re-installing Windows 7 (at this point) is out-of-the-question.

PLEASE...PLEASE HELP ME! I'll be online all night and will even call you if I must in order to fix this. Your help is greatly appreciated.

We need some more info.

Copy this .bat file to your desktop, and then run it as administrator. It will create a ZIP file on your desktop. Upload that ZIP file in your next reply.

If safe mode doesnt work either; then you may have to try booting off the windows disk if its available; and doing a system repair off the disc if it will let you do so.

By the way, the boot cache file I'm talking about is on another computer. I'm trying to copy it, along with the other file stated in that thread, from the non-BSOD computer and place it on the BSOD-plagued computer.

I can boot from a USB, but only to the splash page. After that, the BSOD pops up. According to the thread, I can go through the Command Prompt to apply this "fix".

STEPS according to thread above:

Copy "Bootcat.cache" file from "C:\Windows\system32\CodeIntegrity" and "NTDLL.DLL" file from "System32" folder from a SIMILAR WORKING SERVER WITH SIMILAR SERVICEPACK ( Win2k8 RTM (Non SP1) / Win2k8 R2 RTM / Win2k8 R2 SP1/wIN7 ) working server and make a ISO or FLP image using any ISO / flp image creator software (like Magic ISO MagicISO - Convert BIN to ISO, Create, Edit, Burn, Extract ISO file, ISO/BIN converter/extractor/editor ).

Mount the ISO/FLP image to the BSOD server.

Reboot the server with Startup repair boot menu by pressing F8 at the startup.

Go to CMD and restore the Bootcat.cache file from the CD/Floppy mounted to "%systemroot%\system32\CodeIntegrity" folder and NTDLL.DLL to "%systemroot%\system32\" folder. (Also, do not forget to keep a copy of the file some ware on the server, so that, it can be used next time the BSOD occurs if the server rebooted by any means).

Reboot the server, press F8, and then select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" menu.
Server will be up now.
Upgrade the server to SP1 (if applicable). (After upgrading, once you reboot the server, you may get the BSOD again.

Follow the same steps to bring back to normal. Once the SP1 upgrade process is over, issue will fix!.)

Verify by rebooting the server.

What do you think?
