BSOD upon launching games

Two days ago my CPU fan started going into cycles of speeding up for a moment every couple of seconds. I reapplied thermal paste, started up the computer, and launched CS:GO. Received the first blue screen: RTKVHD64. Today I launched another game, Dungeon Defenders, and received another blue screen for System_Service_Exception. Note that this doesn't happen every time I launch a game, as I have played both games afterwards. However, upon launching DD today, the game did not render. The fan still has it's issue as well. I'm not sure whether this is a hardware or software issue.

I had updated the sound driver, as well as reverted a recent gpu update. Issue seemed fixed but I received the same BSOD, RTKVHD64, today during an entirely different game. This dump is the same as the past two ones I've gotten since I posted. As for the fan, it has always idled at 45C because of the stock cooler, but the cycling is a recent issue. Can it be caused by hardware degradation somewhere? The computer is 5 years old so a better cooler has been ordered regardless.

The Realtek driver has not been updated - its exactly the same date and time as that identified in post #2. Check your steps again.

Alright, now this time the audio drivers are definitely updated. This new BSOD occurred upon startup, the message indicated system_service_exception with RTKVHD64 under additional info.

I hope this is okay to bump, as it has been a while. I've gotten a series of blue screens today which still pointed towards the sound driver.

Done. Initial scan reported nothing found. I also removed logmein mirror driver and did a clean install of the newest video card drivers. I can't reliably trigger crashes so I'll post back in a few days if all goes well.
