BSOD using Google Chrome HTML5 YouTube player bug check 0x00000124

No worries, yeah heat has not seemed like an issue in the circumstances of any of the crashes. Does not BSOD when I hit 90C using prime95, little bit stumped at the moment.

Thanks for the help :)

Normally a cpu will under volt and under clock if at a temp like that but will not fail necessarily. The point at which the 4770k does this is 100c so you are close.

Nooblet, what case are you using and how many fans, where are they located and which are intake and which are exhaust? How is your Radiator set? Is it on the rear fan blowing case air through it to exhaust out of the case, or do you have it set different? I have always had better results blowing the cooler outside air through the radiator and into the case. Your case fans should be set to have positive air pressure ( more fans blowing fresh air in the case than exhaust fans bowing out. All of my cases have all the fans as intake except the rear exhaust fan. This forces air and dust out of the case through the exhaust fan and every opening in the case. It also has the effect to reduce dust accumulation by a significant amount.

The temps you see in Prime, you will never see in actual usage. So, it is not a concern as such, but means you cannot test your CPU for stability. Laith is correct in that your CPU needs a very good CPU cooler. Honestly, I would have a minimum of an H100 or H105 on that CPU. But, It does not seem that temps are the cause of your BSODs. You are running hotter than you really should, but not critical. Artic Silver takes 200+ hours of use to cure. That is it's downside, but it is a good thermal paste and pretty popular. Everyone has their preference as to thermal paste, but as long as it is one of the top brands, it really makes little difference.

Please upload the BSOD Posting instructions again so we can take a look. Also you don't mention your Graphics card in your system specs. Please list it and the temps it is running.

Hi Laith - yes I would have chosen a different CPU cooler had I known that the 4770K needed it. Considering I don't want to OC at the moment, just run some fairly low intensity programs I am not bothered to upgrade.

essenbe - Case is Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl. Four fans at the moment, although I just replaced the Corsair H60 CPU cooler with the stock Intel cooler and have been changing the layout of the fans inside. Inside of the case seems to always be blowing cool air and never gets hot, even during the prime95 stress test. With that change of CPU coolers there is still no difference in the prime95 stress test, CPU hits 90C+ within seconds still. I am fairly certain at this point the BSOD is not being caused by overheat or if it is there is no fault to the CPU cooler(s).

Graphics card is a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 OC 3GB - I have already run stress tests on this in previous postings earlier in this thread and it has gone through without any errors. Temperature currently is 41C and maintains 60-70C during most intense moments.

Latest BSOD dump file has been attached. Known causes of BSOD are: running Google Chrome and watching YouTube videos (watching YouTube videos seems to speed up the time before BSOD). Running Open Broadcaster livestreaming software, and occasionally video Skype calls.

As always thanks for your time and help with this matter. :)

Joel have you considered the CPUmight be failing ? because it seems to me the temps at normal use and with newcompound and cooler is still not good on the temps. Like anything from cars towatches ebven with rigorous quality control are not infallible.
Anyway take a look at this http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-system/blue-screen-0x124-wheauncorrectableerror/278673ae-d13a-448a-a6df-648118251e3b

Personally and much to mypredictable and pedantic behaviour would like you to read this and post back theresults
Using HW Info
PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO,HWiNFO32/64 - Download <download the rightbit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down tothe power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. Nowthe section you want will be labelled - fpr example Asus boards usually have"Nuvoton" and Gigabyte boards "ITE" in any case the sectionyou want will have Vbatt or VBAT in it (dead give away)
The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for thatbut for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main lefthand side panel
FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
PART B:
Open each small square with + in it on the section the components are in andthen click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in theright hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds andother essential info that particular device. See pic for example.

Nooblet, I checked your last few dump files. It still says 0X124 which is a generic hardware error

I would like you to reinstall your graphics drivers to a WHQL version either newer or older one than you have now, and follow this tutorial. Install only the Graphics driver and the PhysX driver, nothing else.

After that when you watch a You Tube Video, please disable Hardware Acceleration and see if it improves any.

Yep well I was guessing it was either an over / under voltage supply to the PSU rails (although having said that if the pin 8 on the 24 pin board socket (grey coloured) does not receive a signal - because the PSU circuitry and therefore unusable / harmful high or low is faulty the system isn't going to fire up at all - and that usually happens in a few milliseconds from power up) and also too many refs to Intel in the dumps eh?

That's why I would have liked to see the HW Info report;)

Hi guys, sorry for the long gap between responses. I have since had an issue with my internet connection that so far I believe is on the ISP end! Anyway, that is a different issue.

derekimo - I have removed all of that as requested, for the record that was purely for educational purposes but it is gone now anyway! I have attached my latest BSOD logs - I hope I did not miss anything, please let me know if I did. I am on the policy of this forums side in that debate :)

essenbe - I have removed my graphics card and still had the BSOD, ran many stress tests on it too (see earlier posts). At this point I am very positive the BSOD is not being caused by the graphics card. However, I completed your instructions as requested, I used a newer edition of the driver and the very first edition. Already had hardware acceleration disabled and had troubleshooted that too. Unfortunately all of this still results in this painful BSOD :/

I also removed the Corsair H60 CPU cooler and replaced it with the Intel stock cooler. Still BSOD and instant temp issues when prime95 is run. I have since reapplied thermal paste and reattached the H60. I have included a photo as was requested a while back of the amount of thermal compound applied. Think I have exhausted that avenue now :(

ICIT2LOL - I will complete your instructions very soon.

Thank you all for your help with this as always. I feel like we are getting closer to the needle and the haystack is a little smaller :)

(Latest BSOD logs attached)

ICIT2LOL - thanks for the advice. I am kind of a little overwhelmed by all the information available in HWiNFO. I have saved a report as a .HTML and attached it to this post. I will continue to look through it myself - is the aim of this to find out if there is enough voltage being used by certain components? Or too much etc?

No worries Noob but just as a personal preference and I don't know if I mentioned it before I like to spread a thin layer of the compound on bot the cooler plate and the CPU using a vinyl glove then put that amount on the CPU. I also use the Arctic cleaning kit and compound but like I said I might have mentioned that before.

All being equal how one does this and ask is to open a can of worms because it floods the thread with different methods. So far I have never had a problem.
Arctic Silver Incorporated - ArctiClean < the preparation solution is just something else to get those surfaces perfectly clean and ready for the compound Arctic Silver Incorporated - Arctic Silver 5 to compliment it. However touching it after that has been done means redoing the prep.

My reason for spreading that initial layer (very thin) is that the bead - as in your pic - will "bleed" through it to cover the entire mating surfaces.

Now the HW Info I will check through soon and yes it is very detailed and the devil IS in the detail sometimes ;)

Thanks very much for that ICIT2LOL. I used the Arctic cleaning kit as well as Arctic Silver 5 compound :)

I just went with the pea method as best I could, I agree with all of what you said about it though!

So as things stand with this I suppose I will start looking at warranty for the CPU? Unsure of what else to do.

Yup, look for the warranty and get it RMAd if it still is valid.
