Solved BSOD - Usually When Lid is Closed, Maybe Sleep Problem

There seem to be two times this happens. I close my laptop lid (set to sleep when closed) and then when I reopen it, it restarts and then tells me there was a blue screen. When I click on the option to look for solutions online, the pop-up window just closes and disappears. Other times it has happened when my computer was idle for a while, lid open (presumably it went to sleep), then returned to it and power button illuminated, but black screen. Nothing to do but power off - or if I close the lid for a while, it will then restart when reopened.
Seems totally random. Sometimes doesn't happen for days in a row, then twice a day.

Welcome aboard, anahata.

Your problem seems to be with your usb port/hub. Is there anything connected in the laptop's USB ports when you close the lid? Say any external HDD or something else? If so, remove those, close the lid and follow if it crashas again.

Turn USB selective suspense on to narrow down the possibility to discriminate if it is being cause by the hardware, or the USB hub driver.

At the same time, try to upgrade your NEC Electronics USB 3.0 Host Driver, using the link provided in the page: Driver Reference Table - nusb3hub.sys.

There is a tiny Targus bluetooth transmitter in one of my USB ports. It's been there about a month. I can't remember when this crashing started happening relative to getting that bluetooth device. It seems that it was happening <i>before</i> I got the device.
In any case, I will follow your instructions and post back.

Selective suspense was already activated in all power plans.
