Thinking about settling and doing the clean install, unless there are more things I can do. Should I install the
Intel RST driver now?

1. Install the Intel RST driver.

2. If you have the product key there is no reason to use SIW.
Use official MS product keys only.

3. You don't need to buy a new OS if you have a legitimate MS key.
If you find the previous ISO file it can be re-used to install.
There is a link to get the official MS ISO, as long as you have an official MS key.

4. Try deleting the Real Temp files you have and D/L a new copy, run that to see if you're still having issues.

5. memtest86+ will run until you stop it. No way to set it to stop, if you don't have 7 full passes by the time you go to bed then let it continue over night.
The time to complete 7 full passes will depend on your system and how much RAM you have installed. Yours should be 4-6 hours approximately.

If your issues are software related a Clean Install will help, a fresh installation will also run faster/better.
If your issues are due to hardware then the Clean install won't fix it.

Your choice, I would recommend a Clean Install just to clear up some of the issues you are having.

Let us know the memtest86+ results.

Ok.

Uninstalled RealTemp and reinstalled. No luck.

Plan of attack right now is to install the drive and run the memtest

So I will do that in about an hour.

Quick question. Is there anything radically different running in regular mode and safe mode. Barring my lack of knowledge, can some problems be hidden in safe mode that show up in regular mode?

I am also assume that the memtest will scan for hardware problems.

My main goal right now is to determine hardware vs. software issue. It will make me relax easier. If it is software I can go get that harddrive to transfer files and clean install.

If there is anything else, I should know, let me know. haha.

I appreciate your follow up, very very much.

Thanks

Safe mode installs very few third party drivers, mostly just MS drivers.
This will tell you if third party drivers are causing issues.

Memtest86+ tests RAM only.
Other hardware tests are needed to test other hardware.

Get the external HDD and prepare for the clean install.

Memtest was run for a total of 8 passes in 7 hours. PASSED.

Good news.

Running clean install

Good decision, best way to eliminate a software issue.

I am definitely considering forgoing Windows7 and installing Linux Mint. Do you know any guides on how to do this?
I am assuming just to burn a disc/usb and boot. Is there any special steps for wiping a drive or reformatting it?
