BSOD when booting. Error 0x00000101

I managed to borrow my friends PS/SPS tester unit today so I could test my CPU and make sure that's not causing the problems. Everything has checked out fine on that front, so that's another piece of hardware crossed off the cause list.

The only things left now are the CPU and mainboard. Like I mentioned a bit higher up the thread I really do think it's my CPU. Especially when last weekend I managed to monitor the temps and it was running up at 50-51 while idel or doing nothing more than surfing the web.

So I decided on the off chance to just try and adjust my CPU settings in the bios a bit. I have tried to throttle the CPU back a bit from the factory settings. Seems to be running acooler by a good 5 or 6 degrees under use compared to last week. So I'm gonna carry on with this and see what happens.

I'm now able to run the CPU stress test using Prime95. So far so good. Been running the test for 15 minutes now. CPU under full load on both cores, temps hitting 60C and holding steady there. Just had the Self-test 28K passed.

Now even more confused as the temps are running waaaaay hotter and are under way more load than they were last week when it was re-booting.

I'll have to let you know what I changed in the BIOS once the Prime95 test has completed, because I can't remember off the top of my head.

So I've ran 1hr 38 minutes of Torture test. Completed 27 tests with 0 errors & 0 warnings....and no BSOD's.

Max CPU temps logged 63c

Look like good steps.

All looks good with CPU-Z.

Let us know how things are going after you've had a chance to do your normal routine for a while.

yeah I will do. Just gonna start using it again as normal now and see how it goes.

Those settings I changed in the BIOS were:-

CPU FSB changed from AUTO to 200MHz
CPU changed from AUTO to x10 2000MHz

That's it. I've never overclocked my system or any parts of it ever in the past. So I was a bit confused as to why running settings were causing issues, yet these new settings seem for now, touch wood, to have resolved things.
