Solved BSOD when idle or gaming HD6670 .rar attached

Hi there, these last couple of days i've been experiencing BSOD intermittently. this happens whether gaming or just browsing in chrome.

I thought it might have been my GPU overheating so i ran MSi afterburner but the temp's when idling were 35-40, however, when the issue starts (really bad screen lag then complete lockup, all audio sticks then BSOD) the temps were fine but the GPU usage would spike too 100%.

Booting to safe mode i uninstalled all ATI drivers and ran regcure and driversweeper then performed a full scan with malwarebytes to check for virus etc, i then removed my GPU from the mobo and ran with integrated graphics and it worked fine.

I left the computer unplugged from the mains for a good half hour then put the card back in and installed the latest drivers all it worked fine and i was playing arkham asylum without any issues, i tabbed out to check facebook and when i tabbed in again my usb gamepad was not responding, so i pulled it out and replugged then... BSOD, although it was a different one this time but i couldn't catch what it said...

Several issues:

AVG is not the best security software. It also contributes in BSOD-s often.

Uninstall and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Uninstall using the free version of Revo uninstaller. Uninstall in Advanced Mode so you'll have an option to clear registry leftovers.

For monitoring the heat/celsius of the system, use Speccy or HWinfo:

Your windows is outdated. Install all updates including service pack 1:

• Learn how to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

Run the System File Checker. It allows the user to scan for and restore corruptions in Windows system files.

  3. Left click and Run as Administrator
  4. Type SFC /scannow

The issue with my card seems like it was just a driver conflict, since i reinstalled it hasn't happened. I updated windows and i removed the usb drivers and followed the instructions in both tutorials you posted and my gamepad has been fine.

I ran the file checker and disk check after the first BSOD and all was fine

I'm sure it was simply the display driver and the gamepad driver, thanks for all your help
