I've tried formatting windows 8 and also tried installing drivers seperately for both cards. Nothing has worked so far for me. I am trying to run these cards in crossfire. Both are 7950. As soon as it gets to the part where it installs the display driver, the screen goes black the first time, shortly thereafter the screen goes black second time and suddenly I get a bsod with atikmdag.sys. I've attached my bsod log below. Thank You.

I have tried using display uninstaller, uninstalling amd install manager but none of these have worked so far. I have tried amd catalyst 14.4 and 14.9.

Hi Nick.

If you dont use crossfire and apply a single card only, does it behave the same? Try it and let us know.

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff801a7643195, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: ffffd0011a713858, Exception Record Address
Arg4: ffffd0011a713060, Context Record Address

When doing driver installation for single card, it does not cause bsod. The installation works fine. What I have noticed is, when I have my powercolor in slot 1 my display device is named R9 series in device manager. When I install the sapphire on slot 2 alone, the name remains 7900. So I don't know what is causing this. Could be the bridge?

The chance is there, obviously. I will ask our hardware experts to have a look at your issue.

In the mean time, you complete your System Specs with detailed information about your PSU and cooler. It will help our hardware experts to have a better idea about your system.
See your system specs and fill it up here.

nick7969, look at the specs unless you know them. The core clock and boost clock on both need to be the same as well as the Vram. Is that the case?

Also, please look in BIOS and give us the values of the +12V, +5V and +3.3V

If I understand you, your Motherboard is reading the cards as different models. I'm not sure why, but maybe the Tech Support for that card could tell you why.

Hold on just a second. Am I misunderstanding you? You only nee 1 driver. You can't install 2 drivers at the same time, I don't believe.

Try this. Install 1 card in the top slot. now do this

I am going to give you some links that will help you get a good clean install and not have any drivers you don't need that will conflict with other drivers. Download a WHQL driver from http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/329659-latest-amd-catalyst-video-driver-windows-7-a.html . Once you have them downloaded, uninstall you current driver from control panel. next clean up any left over drivers from following this tutorial http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/83814-drivers-clean-left-over-files-after-uninstalling.html and select only ATI Display Drivers. After you have done that and rebooted, install the new driver, only select custom install and install only what you have to. Very few people need most of what they include. You do not need the audio/HDMI drivers as you already have that in your Motherboard drivers. Unless there is some reason you need them, the only thing you really need is the Display Driver.

Once that is done, shut down install the second card and the bridge and start up. You should get a pop up with Windows saying it detected new hardware and CCC asking if you want to enable Crossfire, answer yes. If you don't get the pop up from CCC, open CCC and enable CFX there and see if that works better.

You do not need 2 drivers.

Thank You for responding.

I got this from the bios.
12V - 12.144
5V - 5.120
3.3V - 3.440

So, I did as you said. I shut down the computer. Took out the 2nd card. Booted it up with the card in only slot 1. Uninstalled catalyst, started ddu, safe mode, and than wiped using amd. I booted it up with one card only just to make sure everything was fine. Than I shut down, installed second card in slot 2, and than put the bridge on. Booted it up. Didn't get any windows screen saying it was installing, nothing in the tray either. I waited for CCC to popup with crossfirex dialog but nothing came up. So I decided to start CCC. I got the following message.

"AMD Catalyst Control Center cannot be started. There are currently no settings that can be configured using AMD CCC."

CCC opened just fine with one card.
First time ever seeing this type of message.

Nick, with both cards installed, go to device manager, click the arrow next to Display adapters and it should show both cards, what does it say?

So, now I have both cards showing up in device manager. I didn't do anything after installing the drivers in the earlier post. I gave up and just shut down the computer. Today I started it up and it shows AMD Radeon HD 7900 series and AMD Radeon R9 200 Series. They are both 7950. I don't know why one is showing up as R9? Anyways, let me test it with a game or two and see if crossfire is working.

So I tried joining a server. Just before it tries to launch the game. The whole system freezes, can't move mouse and eventually had to shut it off.
