BSOD when installing/ multitasking

Ok, I've been working on my new setup and I keep getting BSOD when I go to install large-ish programs/ games. I've been able to install Windows, complete the Updates, and install my anti-virus (AVG).

When I go to start installing video games (through steam), I get a BSOD.

Everything in my computer is new (from tigerdirect) save for my video card and my HDD.

I was getting blue screens on my old setup and that's what prompted me to upgrade, but i probably should have checked to make sure it wasnt the HDD before I choose not to replace it (i dont think its the video card, but im not certain)

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.

How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+

Run memtest86+ for at least 8 consecutive passes.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

If no error is shown, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning

Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

• If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
• If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

I did a fresh install on a new HDD, still getting blue screens

I ran memtest86+ for 10 straight passes, no errors

I still am using my computer a bit, but ive noticed it will blue screen even while idling

i am going to try Driver Verifier now

When i activated Driver Verifier, I could not boot all the way to the desktop. I was able to turn it off in safe mode.

I tried a second time with the same result

Disable wingman profiler and steam from startup and try driver verifier.

I dont see any reason behind that. Still, boot normally now and let us see another DM log output.

Ive noticed that I crash most when im idling, and then i try to load something up, i find it crashed in the morning after ive left in on all night.

Still the Memory related BSODs are continuing.

ATM we can try to eliminate the possibilities (our attempt to get a certainty did not work) only. First, Uninstall AVG using AVG Remover. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

If it does not stop the BSODs, remove the RAT5 mouse and apply a normal one there.

Testing without RAT mouse or AVG... will post back soon

Not sure what it means, but ive started getting errors saying "Desktop Manager has stopped working" a minute or two after boot

Hmm. The DWM issue is the most annoying issue, and there is no unique or feasible solution to it that will work universally.

Try uninstalling the display driver and then reinstalling it. It may help. But it does not, the best way to deal with this issue is to perform a clean reinstall.

reinstalled drivers, havnt seen the DWM error for a while now..

After removing the mouse and AVG, i seemed to get better, i was able to install some software that i wasnt able to before (without crashing)

Im still finding its reset itself when i leave it for prolonged times

Let it the time to go to sleep. Or pit it to sleep manually. Then wake it up. If the issue still persists, you will see the BSOD there.

I currently have all sleep and hibernate settings turned off..

Also, now ive been getting "Windows Explorer Has stopped working", and the error put pops back up if you close it. From there all i can do is reset

You are having one after one random issues which gives a clear sense that your windows installation got corrupted, and you need a clean reinstall.

I've been thinking about getting a SSD for my OS to improve boot times. Do you think that will just add to my problems?

If I'm starting over I figure I might as well wait till I get the drive

A SSD by a known good brand will be really good, in all respects.
