Hello people

I'm new to this forum and debuging my PC....I know a little more about PC than the average person, and have built my last 4 PC. But when it comes to this sort of thing i'm a NOOB, so please go easy.

I'm getting BSOD on a freshly installed version windows 7 64 bit, this is the third time now i've reinstalled the OS on to different HDD and partitions...But the end product is alway the same? Freezing and crashing when playing MW2, and BSOD when i transfer files from one HDD to another when the file or folder is over about 5GB?

I have updated the drivers, and windows, and i'm currently running with minimal programes on the system. i would normally have Photoshop, Video editing programes and lots of games on the system. As i thought one of them my be the problem i have just put MW2 on. but it stills dies on me.

the only time i have experience this before was when rendering videos with Avid, and Premier Elements 8 working on a RC verion of win 7 64 (7100). so i thought installing this would fix my problem.

I have tried reading the mini dump files but to be honest....I don't understand what it was telling me. The BSOD normally comes up with 'Merory Management' or so PF? list corupt?????

I really hope someone can help me as all i want to do is have a stable system and play some games.

Thank you

Welcome!

Don't worry, we tailor our posts to meet the level of the OP. If he is a real noob, we give simple, step-by-step instructions, but if he knows how to do stuff already, we leave out the details.

I see two possible causes. The first is Kaspersky. Please remove it with this tool: http://support.kaspersky.com/downloads/utils/kavremover10.zip

Replace it with the free Microsoft Security Essentials.

3rd party AV programs are notorious for causing BSODs and other crashes on Windows 7 and Vista.

The other is your outdated Conextant drivers:
Code:
CT20XUT.DLL Mon Mar 05 02:45:40 2007
ctaud2k.sys Mon Mar 05 02:45:20 2007
CTEXFIFX.DLL Mon Mar 05 02:45:38 2007
CTHWIUT.DLL Mon Mar 05 02:45:41 2007
ctoss2k.sys Mon Mar 05 02:44:55 2007
ctprxy2k.sys Mon Mar 05 02:45:23 2007
ctsfm2k.sys Mon Mar 05 02:44:52 2007

I advise updating them.

If those two things don't work, please enable driver verifier: http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lo...-driver-verifier-identify-issues-drivers.html

I have checked all drivers through device manager...just had another dump file produced LOL.

Are you saying that Kaspersky is no good? as i've just removed AVG to put this on a few months ago.

I hate to say this, but in these dumps your working set list has been corrupted (the box is failing before it even gets to MiDeletePte - the VmWorkingSetList is probably corrupt). I've seen 1As with the exact same params before, and once it was bad RAM, and once it was an overheating CPU - both needed replacing. I'd start looking at hardware, unfortunately.

Let's see what happens first, before moving on.

We are still awaiting results from removing the anti-virus.

Not a problem, although an antivirus product wiping out the working set list would be one of the rarest corruption cases I've ever seen - these are protected from write by basically everyone but the memory manager itself.

JK I just want to chime in to say I can learn a lot reading your posts on diagnosing dump files. You're pretty good at it.

zigzag3143 offered to teach me how to read/diagnose them but I haven't taken him up on his offer yet :o

At any rate I just want to say good job.

Peace

No worries - I do this for a living, and a post a few days ago got me interested enough to post. Now that I've looked around, I'm of course stuck as this is the only place other than my employment that has so many challenging dump files.

Ok, Sorry not got back.....
I removed Kaspersky, then got a virus from Hell.....Some 'Antivir' program popping up every time i closed it. where and how it got on my PC i don't know but i couldn't remove it, had pop ups for doggy websites and this 'Programe' said it was scannig my PC for viruses. It also stopped me running ASquared to remove it as it was telling me the A2 had a virus and shut it down.

So i reinstalled windows for the 4th time this week.

OK, this is where im at....windows is up todate, all drivers are updated using DriverMax Pro. But there is one driver that has a warning on it and that is 'Unibrain 1394 PC' Windows can't find and updated driver or DriverMax. Then my BluRay drive wasn't recognised, so i found a thread and removed the upper and lower filters with reg edit.

everything seemed fine...managed one game...no problems, second game BSOD 'PFN' then the next was Memory managment'

So im back to Square one again:mad:

Sorry that didn't work here they are. Sometime it doesn't create a dump file, just freeze and i have to do a reset.....

I was wondering if my Creative X-fi card is to blame, as it is the old hardware and windows 7 drivers are hard to find?

All of your .dmp files are still pointing to Kaspersky Antivirus ( klif.sys ) as the reason for your crashes... Until you COMPLETLY remove it, you will continue to experience BSOD problems... Follow JK's advice,,,,
