Solved BSOD when playing SWTOR, SIms4 or Trying to stream video

Hello

My pc started shutting down while I was playing SWTOR, if I tried to view any other type of video in the background. I didnt get a BSOD when this happened. It would just shut down.

I thought that perhaps it was due to excessive heat in the case so I added a slot fan. When the problem continued I looked at my power supply. And replaced it as well.

The problem continues and I then uninstalled the AMD catalyst suite, ran cc cleaner and reinstalled the AMD video driver only. I then ran driver fusion and applied the recommanded fixes.

Now I am shutting down when trying to view videos, load the sims 4 AND is I try to look at a video while SWTOR is running.

Who crashed this points had this to say:

The problem is caused by your graphics driver. Run Display Driver Uninstaller(DDU)
Make sure you tick the Uninstall C:/AMD and C:/NIVIDA folders while you are in DDU when you are done running DDU install your graphics driver again and you should be good to go! I followed your instructions. I removed The AMD Suite and Drivers and also found remnants of old Nvidia software as well.

This seems to have solved the BSOD issue. However Im still getting ccomplete shut downs when I try to view a video while SWTOR is up. This shutdown doesn't have an accompanying BSOD. My event viewer doesnt seem to show it at all. And I am completely unsure whats causing it. Or how to pinpoint the problem

Yes, this is overheating. If you look at your graphics card is burning-hot. First of try opening your computer and clear dust from the graphics card(if there is dust).

I just replaced my power supply. While I had the case open I removed the graphics card and air dusted the case. I'd hoped that the fact that the new power Supply fan pointed down onto the vid card would help with the heat issue. I installed an extra slot fan as well. PC case is small, only additional fan that I could get into case was the slot fan.

Should I start looking at a new case for my system?

Well don't be too hasty. This could also be that the graphics card is failing. Do you see alot of stutter and artifacts? Does your fan sound faster than it should be? Does your textures look odd?

I dont see any stutter or distortion. The one thing I did notice is how loud the fans are when I game. (They arent as noticable when Im not gaming, at the moment they are relatively quiet)

Well that's normal. So its not failing videocard. Yes, try to look for a new case.

I just wanted to touch base with you and thank you for all of your help. In the end I decided to start swapping out components. Starting with the video card. And the problems that I was having seem resolved.

I was able to uninstall my drivers completely and cleanly. custom install the Catalyst suite and get myself up and running without a hitch. All thanks to the wonder advice and guidance that I received from all of you!

Without you I would have never discovered that there were still fragments of Nvidia graphic drivers on my pc. Or had a clue how to get them off. Im grateful for your help. You give your time and advice freely, which is awesome!
