BSOD while doing certain things..

Things like compressing a 4 gig or above file using winrar,
Trying to convert a 15 gig MKV movie to MP4 format using Avs Video Converter,
playing avengers in facebook while listening to MP3 using Winamp.

This are the ones I noticed that is guaranteed to cause a BSOD after quite a while.

checking event viewer, everything seems in order except for this error,
which always occurs at the exact time to the second when the BSOD happens..

error :- "File System Filter 'bdfsfltr' (Version 6.1, ‎2010‎-‎06‎-‎25T21:41:26.000000000Z) failed to attach to volume '\Device\CdRom0'. The filter returned a non-standard final status of 0xc0000013. This filter and/or its supporting applications should handle this condition. If this condition persists, contact the vendor."

p.s :- Note I already did a MemTest and my memory checks out fine, no errors with them.

any help that can be provided to this problem will be greatly appreciated..

also, unable to post a minidump.dmp or Full kernel dump
because for some reason when it BSOD, it will just hang there until I manually resetted the system.

sometimes it will show memory dumping and then it stops like at 75 or so..
after restarting, can't find the dump file anywhere...

bdfsfltr belongs to your BitDefender Antivirus program.
The status of 0xc0000013 is
// MessageId: STATUS_NO_MEDIA_IN_DEVICE
//
// MessageText:
//
// {No Disk}
// There is no disk in the drive.
// Please insert a disk into drive %hs.
//
#define STATUS_NO_MEDIA_IN_DEVICE ((NTSTATUS)0xC0000013L)
Why BitDefender would be looking for your CD drive is unknown to me - but I suspect that this could be related to the problem. My suspicion is that it's either a corruption of the BitDefender program - or that there's a virus infection on your system that's preventing BitDefender from working properly.

To test, please run some of these free antivirus scans: Free Online AntiMalware Resources
If the system scans clean, then:
- download a fresh copy of BitDefender
- uninstall the current copy of BitDefender
- install the freshly downloaded copy and immediately update and scan your system.

It could also be that one of the "certain things" is corrupted and it's pointing BitDefender at the CD drive. If so you'll have to go through each of the "certain things" programs and replace them with a fresh copy.

Please provide this information so we can provide a more definitive assessment: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

Thanks for the replies..

yea, I know the file is because of Bitdefender.
but I don't really see why it keeps trying to do that with my DVD drive since I don't have anything in it..

I am looking for an alternative anti virus that will not conflict with me Zone Alarm Firewall.

Any advices?

You'll find most of the gurus on here will recommend MSE since it is the most stable of all the antivirus programs available. Why are you against installing it?

too much stuff required..

LOL..

just trust on my trusty zone alarm for firewall..
problem is looking for a good antivirus (not necessarily have to be free)
that doesn't conflict with zone alarm.

Kaspersky Looks good, but sadly it conflicts with zone alarm

ok, replaced Bitdefender with Nod32..

I have to get my system to make a memory dump when it BSOD..

I disabled automatically restart, enable write a system log and to write memory dump.
anything else I missed?

Make sure your pagefile is properly setup.

For the hangs you experience: You may also consider removing ZoneAlarm to test. It is known to cause problems on some systems.

my system already has "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" turned on
as my C drive is already system managed.

I don't understand why my system can't make a memory dump when the BSOD happens.

for the BSOD dump and system file collection app, does it create the Memory Dump file?

because my situation is as follows,

I have went to system settings and unchecked "Automatically restart" thing and enable
write system log to system to C:\windows\memory.dmp.

there are several occasions where the system outright reboot itself without showing the BSOD. After restart, unable to find any DMP files in my windows directory.

most other times, when the BSOD do appear, it will show errors like Memory management OR System Service exception ( I got screen shots of those, BTW, if you want to see them). It doesn't indicate it is making a memory dump though and a restart will show that no DMP files were made.

of the VERY few times it shows that a memory dump is being recorded, it will go from 0 to 75 and stops there.. No amount of waiting will have it go to 100 (which I assume is what it is suppose to do normally). A Force restart to windows will also show no Memory.dmp file was made any where.

Details of the BSOD I received, when having Bitdefender on, the errors I most encounter is "System Service Exception"

I have changed to Nod32 last two nights and last night, I tried to convert a 15 gig MKV file to MP4 and I got a Memory Management BSOD. Thats what I got to-date.

p.s :- Things that I have managed to do. I got Memtest and had it run a few passes and it shows my Mem is cool.

So I guess my best solution at the moment is to get my system to do a memory dump with the BSOD happens, which it doesn't at the moment..

Sorry for the length of this, but I am trying to be as detailed as I can to my problem.

Thank you for your time..

It sounds like the .dmp files are not being created due to hard disk or memory problems (likely memory). Here is my usual rant:
Your crashes primarily indicate hard disk problems. This could mean hard disk corruption, bad sectors, a failing hard disk, Windows files or registry corruption, viruses, or memory problems.
  • If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

  • Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors checked for all SSDs. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/96938-check-disk-chkdsk-read-event-viewer-log.html.
    For any drives that do not give the message:
    Windows has checked the file system and found no problems
    run disk check again as above. In other words, if it says:
    Windows has made corrections to the file system
    after running the disk check, run the disk check again.

  • Run the short and long tests with SeaTools.
  • Check Windows for corruption. Run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations. Use OPTION THREE of http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html to provide us with the sfcdetails.txt file if errors occur.

  • Download and install Malwarebytes, update it, do not start the free trial, and then run a full scan. Also run a full scan with your antivirus software installed on your system. If you do not have antivirus software installed, see the http://www.sevenforums.com/system-s...-system-security-combination.html#post1732627 for better security steps and scanning tools. Make sure to update the security software before running the full scan.

  • Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).
       Warning
    Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. :warn:WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

    For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:
    1. Shut down and turn off your computer.
    2. Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
    3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
    4. Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer tower/case by finding a metal hold in it, such as a drive bay.
    Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.
