sskylines, I may have missed it but I don't see where we have run memtest. If you haven't run it please do.
Please Run Memtest86+
picture.php

   Information
Please download from this site only http://www.memtest.org/ in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Other than that, I can't believe it is the graphics card, which leaves the PSU, Motherboard, a bent CPU pin or the CPU itself. The PSU seems OK and is a good brand. But, even the best ones go bad occasionally. The CPU would be my last suspect as they rarely go bad. Bad memory can cause problems like this and a bent CPU pin can cause this, and a lot worse problems than this.

What's it going to hurt to pull the heat sink off and re-seat. While doing this you can pull the CPU and check for bent pins. (Although, I've had a bent pin before. Nothing would come up on the screen.) But anyways, make sure the thermal paste is not globbed all over the processor. Look at the bottom of the heat sink to see if the thermal paste was dispersed across the CPU equally.

So the past few days my boot screen ALWAYS had these green and purple squares (which sometimes turned the whole monitor green or purple and wouldn't allow me to restart or shutdown for about 30 seconds) and now after these squares pop up and the driver failed and recovered message pops up, I can't click my mouse, it only registers movement. I booted into safemode and downloaded 350.52 (the newest GTX 760-compatible driver) with clean installation, restarted, got the squares immediately followed by driver recovered message and inability to click my mouse; my mouse worked fine in safe mode. I'm going to use my GTX 470 for now until I can find a resolution. My CPU temps during idle are around 40 centigrade, not high enough to imply heatsink failure, but I'm not sure how a bent CPU pin would cause these specific issues, for months on in, all relating to GPU and GPU driver failure. I'm including all the pictures I've taken of the squares and the green/burgundy/magenta screen caused after the squares.

I've put in my GTX 470 and it boots up fine
getting 100 centigrade on CSGO with the 470, though
medium settings and fps_max 300 i maxed at 102 c, low settings and fps_max 300 97C
low settings and fps_max 200 86C

100C is entirely too hot. You need to either get a GPU utility to set a custom fan profile to bring temps down or add more fans to your case to bring in more cooler air and help cool the GPU, Preferably both. If you are saying you are getting 300 FPS, that is entirely too much. Most monitors have a max refresh rate of 60 FPS.

I've had zero problems since swapping to the 470, this is exactly what happened last time; all 760s I've gotten have caused issues, but the 470 is flawless (besides obviously more heat and less performance)

Ssky, you need to understand though. Your CPU is running too hot. That temperature is too hot for any CPU chip out there right now. I run my CPU on a closed loop water cooling and it keeps it down around 29*C-31*C. Before that on just a CPU heatsink and fan, it would run around 44*C and max out around 72*C-75*C. In my personal opinion, anything over 80*C is getting hot for a CPU. You need to figure out why your CPU is running a high temperature.

I believe CorruptHawkeyez is talking about your GPU temps. The 400 cards were always hot running cards, but 100C is entirely too hot for any card to run. To put into a different context, 100C is 212F. Nothing inside a computer should ever run that hot.

I honestly know of no reason your 760 causes problems. I have a very difficult time believing you could possibly get 4 bad cards in a row. Your 760 uses less power and produces less heat than the 470. There is no reason it shouldn't work.

I'm glad you are having no issues and I have no explanation on why the 760 won't work. I have a difficult time believing you received 4 bad cards in a row, but, to the best of my knowledge it has to be the card, the PSU or the motherboard. A weak CPU can throttle the card a little (which does not apply to you), but the card will still run fine. I know people running them with lower end systems than you have.

Have you called EVGA and talked to the tech support about this problem? I have had a couple of times that I called them and they have always been very helpful and Interested in your problem. If you try that, I would be very interested in what they have to say.

They have a very good forum too, and the tech support visits it and posts often.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but wasn't these temps your CPU temps? 212*F is boiling, which means you've most likely liquefied and scalded (burning) your thermal paste, so now you're not getting the best thermal protection. Nowhere in that pic does it say that these are your GPU temps, although as I stated, I could be wrong.....

sskylines, I know of no reason the 760 won't work for you. I would find it difficult to believe you got 4 bad cards in a row. That would leave it down to the PSU or Motherboard, both of which seem to be fine with the 470. So, I'm at a total loss of what to suggest you try other than EVGA S Technical Support.
