BSOD while playing assassins creed 1

ok here is what happened:
i disconnected the old hdd (the 1 terabyte one mentioned in my original post
i connected the new 160gb hdd (western digital wd1600aajs 160gb 7200 rpm 8 mb cache sata 3.0gb/s)
the new hdd (160gb one) was formatted and i installed win 7. everything was freshly installed.

i ran assassins creed, i still froze in the same place the 1 terabyte hdd froze, twice.
same with world of warcraft, game does the same freezes even tho its a new hdd.

conclusion: its not the hard drive.

any other suggestions please?

HDD connected on same port?

the 160gb hard disk was connected to a sata II 300 port
the old hdd (the 1 terabyte one) was connected to a sata III 600 port
so they were each connected to different ports on the motherboard WITH different cables each.

Fill in your system specs

Please follow this tutorial and download the tool. The tool will give you detailed information about your system specs, fill in your system specs more completely including PSU, cooling and other used stuff like mouse, keyboard, monitor, case, etc.
The PSU, cooling and other stuff are NOT mentioned in the tool.​

i have followed the tutorial and filled in my specs.

i have tested with a different video card than i have now and at least some of the freezing is still there. i tested WoW. dont know about assassins creed. i didnt have the chance to test that one.

also i have removed the dust from my pc. freezing is still there.
also the three fans are working. the one on the processor and the two on the video card.

things are pointing to the motherboard or power supply. I lean toward the motherboard

is there any software out there to test my motherboard and/or my power supply?

The mobo and PSU are the only parts that cannot be tested with software, the mobo can only be tested by replacement. The PSU can be tested by testing the voltages.

these are my processor specifications on the intel site, it says :

• Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type) 32 GB
• Memory Types DDR3-1333, DDR3L-1333 @ 1.5V

yet my memory has 1600 MHz, could this be a problem for me? my memory is not compatible with this processor?

Not per se, I have it similar but running without issues.

My RAM would be normally running at 2400, but it is actually running at 2133. My mobo supports this RAM downclocked at 2133 and my CPU is happy with that as it supports up to 2133
