I have received 3 BSOD tongiht while trying to play the multiplayer of Bad company 2. It only happens when I play this game and only when I play online.
The Stop code I get is 0x00000124
I am running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. After I restart windows i get an error message saying directx 9 could not be activated. Not sure if this is related. Thanks in advance for any help

I had the same problem. A number of people on the Steam forum seem to think it's related to the latest Punkbuster update, which explains why you're not having any crashes playing offline. You'll probably also find that the game will run just fine when you join non-punkbuster servers. A workaround that seems to help a lot of people is to uninstall any overclocking software that came packaged with your mobo e.g. MSI afterburner or Gigabyte easytune. That worked for me.

So I uninstalled MSI afterburner but I still have the same issues. Any other ideas?

I noticed after I posted this that the gigabyte easy tune was still installed so i got rid of it looks good so far

Thanks HeimdalWK, that worked a treat for me as well. I also found another thread about BC2 freezing and the most common cause is due to outdated audio drivers or a faulty sound card.
