Solved BSOD while playing Games: nvlddmkm.sys + dxgkrnl.sys + dxgmms1.sys

I've come so far that I can say that it has something to do with my videocard or it's drivers, but i'm not so sure about the drivers anymore. Since I've uninstalled and reinstalled them about 5 times allready. Doing the uninstallation in safemode and without it.

The actuall BSOD happens during my gameplay but it doesn't always come instantly, sometimes it can take up to 1,5 hours before it happens and sometimes it's instant. I've tried to read other fixes about these error messages but I the answers they provided didn't really help me.

I've recently tried to run a GPU test with OCCT, but I just got the same bluescreen during the test so I'm not sure if it collected anything from it.


I've attached the DM log, but it might be in swedish since I got my windows set to swedish.

That is the 334.89 version, there are a couple newer versions, and some older ones. Don't know which if any of the others you have tried,

Let us know how things work out, sometimes the drivers are buggy and you just need to find the one that works for you.

They may take some trial and error. Also, what games are these? Just certain ones or all games?

I've gotten most of the BSOD while i was playing World of Warcraft and a few in League of Legends, but I havn't really tried it in other games but since I'm using a 780 ti I don't think that WoW or LoL should cause a BSOD, since a 780 is a pretty big overkill. SO I don't think the game matters in this case.

Edit: I got the 337,88 driver installed so it's not out of date, and that part of the code that was from 8th of Febuary, isn't thjat quite out dated? Since I only started experiencing these BSOD a week ago, I belive they started the 25th of May.

I've tried using 337,88 (current), 337,50(beta), 335,23 ,334,89 and I havn't gone any further back then that.

That is the date of the driver, that's how I knew what version it was.

I havn't installed any new drivers since I was allready runing the 337,88 that I installed a few hours ago and I've allready had some BSOD with it, so I could reinstall it. And I've seen that guide before and followed it with the same result.

If its not staying stable, and the suggestions Derek made aren't helping, then I would do this:

1. Uninstall the drivers completely
2. Reboot the computer
3. Run Windows Update and check the optional updates for the driver Microsoft recommends

- it will be outdated with respect to the manufacturer's driver, but it will be signed/tested by Microsoft

4. Install it, and monitor the system for BSOD's.

The whole point of the driver install method is to insure that, as much as possible, all remnants of the older drivers are removed and that you install nothing that you do not use. It is my experience that if that method does not at least make the problem much better, it is not a driver issue.

According to your GPUz log file, your card never got off idle. The GPU clock, the memory clock and even the GPU temp never moved. That indicates that your GPU was never involved in the crash. Perhaps the game/app crashed, the PSU shut down or something of that nature. Your GPU clock was at 324 when the log started and 324 when it crashed.

I just did this and I'm doing another test with OCCT and loging it with GPU-Z, I'll edit this reply when it's done.

For the first time I didn't get a BSOD when I started the test, so I'm quessing that there is/was something wrong with my drivers.

I ran it for 7 min, I there was a guide http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/160729-nvidia-amd-video-card-test-occt.html , where 7 min was the example in the image, I could do a longer test tomorrow but I'm considering going to bed it's allready geting sunny outside.

But in this short test this was not the case, in all of my previous attempts it would crash when it left idle like you mentioned. So I can peform a longer test tomorrow but for now the cause of my BSOD must have been my drivers. But I'm not sure which driver I should get since I tried a few and all of them had the same result, since isn't it unwise to not have a driver from nvidia and roll with the one windows installed?

I always download from Nvidia, but I have not had the problems you have had. Unless I am mistaken, the Windows Update is from Nvidia, it is just an older version.

I havn't had a BSOD today and I would usually get 1 instantly when launching WoW or after 1,5 hours but now all seems good!
