BSOD While playing music and Keyshot rendering.

Hi folks, Here's hoping you can help me with my persistent problem.

So the story is, I mainly get BSOD when i have music running at the same time as producing a keyshot rendering. This is the case 80% of the time, sometimes the BSOD will happen at any random point during the day, regardelss what software is running. I have had days with 5-6 crashes, and then days with none whatsoever.

Playing music with a rendering consistently manages to trigger a crash however.

I have tried wiping the graphics drivers using the video driver removal tool, and then reinstalling official windows 7 drivers from the hp website. this seemed to fix the issue for a few days, however the crashes eventually returned.

Note - i had a dual core version of this laptop for about 2 weeks before i was upgraded to the quad core version. My previous machine also exhibited the same BSOD problems. These laptops were completely identical besides the Core count.

Any help is much appreciated.

Here is my basic system info.

HP Zbook G2 - windows 7 enterprise

Core i7 quad-core 4810mq
18gb ram
250gb ssd
100gb scratch disk
nvidia quadro k1100m

thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!!

Hi jonut90,

Welcome to the 7forums.

Please update Check, it has a few drivers from 2008.

The most recent crashes are caused by drivers that are used for the graphics.
I assume you have used DDU for both your Intel and Nvidia graphic drivers? What drivers from Nvidia and Intel are installed?

Please run Furmark on both your Intel and Nvidia GPU's to test the GPU itself, read carefully the instructions.

   Note
Run Furmark for around 30 minutes

   Warning
Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them and abort the test if temperatures rise too high

Hi there, thanks for the response!

Ill run an update later tonight when i am home and see if that updates the old drivers.

As for reinstalling the graphics drivers, i did indeed use a driver wiper to remove any trace before installing the new ones.

The drivers i installed are from here .

http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=6978815&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4060

I tried Nvidia drivers from nvidias website, however these claimed they were not compatible with my graphics card. ( im 100% certain i selected the Quadro k1100m)

I will perform the gpu test tonight also and get back to you with the results.

Thanks again for the response

Cheers!!

Still crashing

First of all apologies for the wait. been busy at work as of late.

So I have run Furmark and no issues popped up, The temperature never got above 70°c

Lately ive been having more BSOD crashes, the latest have happened at random times and not during any intense work.

i have attatched the Zip file with the latest dumps

Any help is much appreciated!

EDIT: also which components have outdated drivers? windows claims there are no new updates available.

cheers guys.

   Note
You have a laptop, you can only install drivers from your manufacturer

Please update your system specs.

Please uninstall everything of Nvidia using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from your manufacturer. Be sure the clean install box is checked and only install the Graphics driver and the PhysX driver.

Do the exact same thing for Intel Graphics.

Update

So i reinstalled the drivers after using DDU, However crashes still happen.

This time during the bluescreen i could see the Driver dxgmms1.sys being at fault. Is this driver related to graphics cards?

thanks for all your help!

Trend Micro is involved with the crashes.

Because you have enterprise, your laptop is part of an organisation right?
I don't think it is an option to temporary remove Trend Micro?
Is it an option to reinstall Trend Micro? Thus removing Trend Micro using their uninstall tool and install again.

Been quite a while ..

Been quite busy as we get closer to christmas . .

So an update, i have my IT guy onto it now, he is adamant it is something to do with the graphics cards . .i find that hard to believe as my drivers are freshly installed, and the crashes seem to happen randomly, not during anything intensive.

I have mentioned it could be the anti-virus however he reckons it wont have anything to do with it

I have looked around the web and found a few posts mentioning Zonealarm firewall . . This is present in my device manager, under non plug and play hardware.

Could this be part of the issue? is it part of Trend Micro office scan?

thanks again for the help you have provided so far!

cheers
joseph

I have indeed, Unfortunately i cant modify anything to do with the anti-virus. It requires higher level access than i have. I will let my IT guy know and see if he can do a re-install

Update

Im back after christmas/ new years break.

My IT guy has potentially solved the problem. I pointed him in the direction of the anti-virus software instead of the video drivers, and he seems to have found the problem after a bit of digging around.

There was apparently an issue with The VPN software my work uses. He reinstalled it and applied a hot-fix that was available from the vendor. and so far, no crashes (fingers crossed)

If no crashes happen for the next two weeks i will consider this problem solved.

Thanks again for the help!
