Hello,

It's my first time posting here and I'm looking for some help. Many times over the past couple months my computer will crash while streaming video in google chrome. I only have the two most recent crashes in this attachment. I had this problem both with Vista and after the upgrade to 7. I've tried updating my video card driver and scanning for viruses with Avast but could not resolve the problem. Below are some specs for my computer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi BSoDden.

Both of the crash dumps are somehow indicating to Avast, unfortunately.

The latest one, though displaying the probable cause as "hardware", showing that avast is failing there.

So as the first attempt, Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. At least as a test. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Let us know how the computer is running without avast.

Thank you for your reply Arc. I have switched from Avast to MSE and will post back here if another blue screen occurs.

Cheers

My computer blue screened again while streaming video. This time however it is BCC 0x0000017E system thread exception not handled. I've attached an updated log with the new dumb file. This time it appears the directX driver might be responsible.

It is Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family graphics.

The driver is old enough.
Code:
    Image name: igdkmd32.sys

And no feasible update is available, apparently. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&keyword=945+Express+Chipset

Still, you take the Intel® Driver Update Utility. See if it suggests any display driver update for you or not.

If not, there is very limited scope to troubleshoot more, as it is onboard graphics, a motherboard component.

In that case, you have to do some adjustments. Do only the jobs those are performed good in the computer.
