Hey everybody, I just built my new PC. Right from the get go I got a BSOD while watching a YouTube video.

The problem then persisted as I was running Cubase 5.

I ended up formatting everything and re installing windows. It solved the BSOD problem for 2 weeks and now it has started again. A particular Cubase project file seems to set of the BSOD much more than anything else.

Occasionally Google chrome will freeze and then unfreeze after 5-10 seconds and some programs also seem slow and unstable sometimes.

So far I have had 3 BSOD's since re installing Windows. The mini dump folder will be attached with all 3 of the BSOD's

System Specs:

AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core Processor

ASUS M5A97 R 2.0

Kingston Hyper X 16gb DDR3 1600MHz (2x8)

WDC WD10 EZEX-00RKKA0 SATA Disk Device

M-audio Fast track USB Sound Card

NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS

Windows 7 Ultimate 64

I would really appreciate some assistance,

Thank you in advance.

gman95, the BSOD is caused by M-Audio Fast Track Audio card driver.

Update it from M-AUDIO - Drivers and Software Search

As those crashes are during YouTube videos, you should disable GPU acceleration for your browser, too.

Uninstall all the Motherboard provided bloatwares ...
Code:
Start Menu\Programs\ASUS
Start Menu\Programs\ASUS\AI Suite II
Start Menu\Programs\ASUS\ASUS Boot Setting
Not seeing any antivirus installed there ..... Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one. Scan the system for possible virus infection, too.

Another crash dump indicates something different ... it is pointing to a hardware fault.

Hey, so I did everything that was listed. I ran memtest86 for about 18 hours or so with absolutely no errors. Apparently M-audio doesn't service the fast track anymore so I had to search another manufacturers site.

The driver was the latest one offered anyway. However in the installation manual that came with my unit, it specified a certain order of installation (cd driver, then plug in unit, etc) which I hadn't followed when I installed the unit.

So I did a fresh, proper installation of everything and I am running as usual. As for the Hardware error, technically a sound card is considered hardware, which could explain that as well. I'll hopefully be marking this as solved soon, but only time will tell.

Thanks

Alright so it's been about 3 weeks and no more BSOD. The culprit was the fast track's driver which hasn't been fixed. But the BSOD only occurs if the computer is put to sleep or hibernate or any power saving feature at all. So with all those disabled it works flawlessly. This isn't exactly a good solution but I can live with it. Thanks for all the help and I hope this helps someone out. (by the way, avoid M-audio products)

Good news, and good suggestion, I have to say :)
Experienced lots of BSODs caused by the same driver.
