BSOD Win 7 Home Premium partition, ntoskrnl.exe/wdf01000.sys issues

Hi,

Within the past few days I've been receiving a BSOD whenever trying to boot from my Windows 7 Home Premium partition. I do have a Windows 7 Professional and Windows Pro 8.1 as well (a bit redundant, I know!), which work just fine (Win 8 and the problematic Win 7 are on the same SSD). Here are the steps I've taken thus far:

  • Tried booting into any kind of Safe Mode, but it freezes on classpnp.sys and restarts
  • Tried Startup Repair from the installation DVD - waited the hour, but it did not fix anything
  • Tried analyzing the minidumps on a different partition with little success of understanding them
  • Tried chckdsk, scannow, etc. on that drive, which found no errors or verification problems

To be honest, I don't have much experience with analyzing BSODs - especially when trying to do so on a different computer/partition/etc. I tried using the DM Log Collector tool, but it seemed like it was only reading from my 8.1 partition.

Here's a link to the minidumps in question: Microsoft services Please let me know if there are any issues accessing them, or if you need any other information. Any help or insight would be incredibly appreciated!

Thank you!

Thank you very much for the prompt reply and figuring that out! Unfortunately, I'm unable to boot into Safe Mode, and cannot disable driver verifier from the problem OS. I tried disabling it through my other OSes that do work (8.1), following the instructions posted in these forums, but it basically said "No settings were changed". Also tried it through the command prompt using the Windows 7 install DVD, with similar results. Still BSODs, still can't get into Safe Mode.

Is there another way I should be approaching disabling driver verifier? Thanks again.

What error message does it give when entering safe mode?

It basically just freezes on loading the classpnp.sys driver, eventually restarting. This happens in Safe Mode/with Networking/with Command Prompt.

Hmm, use the Windows 7 bootable disk and use the Repair your computer option and choose startup repair.

I've tried that numerous times, unfortunately with no luck. I just tried it again, and here are the results of that repair:

I can still access the data on that partition, thankfully, but I really was hoping to save it if possible (more for my fiancee's convenience than anything else). Thanks for your patience on this.

Hmm, this is going to be a little difficult. Find a classpnp.sys that is working with your version and replace it using Windows 8.1.

I tried replacing it via the installation DVD, with no success, as well as copying it from a working Windows 7 64-bit installation (again with no success). Both resulted in the same freezing at Classpnp.sys during safe boot. For giggles, I ran a Startup Repair after attempting those methods, but it naturally found no errors. Kind of stumped at this point.

If there's any other information you need, please let me know.

Your best bet is to re-install. You are basically locked out of the system with no Safe Mode.
