BSOD - Win7 32-bit, HP Laptop.

Hi guys,

After a power outage, I restarted my computer and received a BSOD after the splash screen. It lasted for a few seconds and the the system restarted on its own accord. This process would continue unless I went into safe mode.

Amongst all the troubleshooting, I've so far performed a recovery/restore and ultimately a clean install. After the clean install, Windows started normally and appeared to be operating well, but upon the first new boot, the BSOD reappeared and it was all back to square one.

Basic Information:

- Operating Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit.
- Original OS was Vista Home Premium.
- Vista was OEM, Windows 7 was purchased full retail as an upgrade.
- System is approximately 2.5 years old.
- Windows 7 was originally installed approximately 6 months ago, but a clean install was made within the last couple of days.

Please find attached the Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 files. I was unable to attach the perfmon report as I received this error upon running the report:

"Error:

An error occurred while attempting to generate the report.

The system cannot find the path specified".

Thanks so much for getting back to me so soon.

I've tried to install the first two but with no luck, I can only use safe mode would this be the problem? Or is there another way of explaining what to do with the installations to me further? Sorry I have limited knowledge on this sort of thing but I'm willing to try and nut anything out!

were you successful with the Realtek update? What network adapters do you have? Looks like a wired (Realtek) and wireless (Intel wireless etc). If you have both, which are you using?

I think the remote control driver will work fine. Use Safe Mode to update the Intel Matrix Storage Driver. Do you use your modem?

Sorry it's take so long to get back to you. I had a friend look at the computer but they couldn't get much further than finding the file that was causing the problem: nvlddmkm.sys (nvidia file). Is this of any help?

Is this the page where I download the Intel Matrix Storage Driver update from?

nVidia file is the graphics file - I'd leave it if I was you.
Select the first one for the Intel driver.

Is there a certain problem booting into normal mode? What error messages are you getting? Run Startup Repair

Hi Dean,

When booting in normal mode, the BSOD will appear right after the splash screen. The computer will then restart on its own after the BSOD has been up couple of seconds and repeat the cycle. The only way to interrupt it is to tap F8 while its doing one of its restarts and go in to safe mode (where everything that's available seems to be running fine).

This problem started after a power out while the computer was running (plugged-in, no battery).

In the meantime we've tried Startup Repair, Restore and a Clean Install, all with no success.

The only time we were able to use Windows in normal mode was right after the clean install had finished. As soon as the computer was started for the first time after the install though, the problem returned.

I've attached a photo of the BSOD (apologies if its hard to read).

This could be a sign of a faulty RAM or GPU. Since this is a laptop; if you still have warranty left, I suggest that you offer a return to the store.
