BSOD Windows 7 Ultimate on startup, everytime

Hi there

I am getting a BSOD everytime I start my DELL Laptop VOSTRO 1520. The laptop is around 12 months old, and been stable over the last 6 months so this is random. The BSOD happens every time and I can't get my laptop running.

I run WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE. The BSOD is generally x7e or x3b. I have attached 2 dumps I managed to get by starting in safe mode.

Windows 64bit ULTIMATE retail edition

It has been working 100% since install around 6 months ago until today

Would really appreciate any suggestion to get my system operational again

Hmm...could we possibly get some more dumps?

I see two things blamed, one of which is yout VGA driver. I would update my video card drivers if I were you. There should be an updated version from July for you to install.

Hi there

Thanks for your super fast reply.

I updated the driver to the latest version dated 9/7/10 and the BSOD still appears.

Attached is the ZIP file you requested however I could not get the PERFMON REPORT as I got an error message

Is your computer time set correctly? Check in the Clock and BIOS to make sure the date and time are set correctly.

I also have my suspicions on your network adapter drivers. Dated May 2010, they should be compatible, but check to see if there is an updated version. If so, install it.

Hi there

Date and time correct in BIOS and then I uploaded the latest Realtec PCIe GBE Family Controller driver and then upgraded the driver and SUCCESS....Laptop boots...very cool. thanks.

The obvious question is why the BSOD suddenly occured when NOTHING had changed for months. Is there any reasoning you could provide

Perhaps the drivers had a bug in them such that they did not anticipate certain system conditions. Invisible to you, they then started throwing fits.

Just a possibility, I honestly have no idea.

For what it's worth, a system reboot can sometimes be all it takes (pending renames, update installation finishes, antivirus def updates, etc) to trigger driver bugs. Especially with network driver bugs, any sort of I/O filter or LSP that changes, is updated, or just decides to act differently can trigger it (see Broadcom drivers, TCP Chimney, and Windows Server 2003 SP1 for a good example).

Yip, agree...thanks again for the debug....hopefully will be BSOD free computing now....interesting however as I always install updated drivers through windows Update and the latest drivers (NVIDIA as well) haven't been highlighted as having updates available
