BSOD -- Windows 7 Ultimate x64 -- Watching video on Hulu

Hi Sevenforums,

I've been encountering a bunch of BSOD's lately for some reason. I'm going to upload the latest one and hopefully after fixing it, other BSOD's with different error codes will stop as well.

I built this computer just about a month ago. Mobo is GA-970A-UD3 with AMD X4 965 Processor.
GPU is SAPPHIRE AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 PCIE Graphics Card.

I had 4GB of Corsair Vengeance Blue 4 GB PC3-12800 1600mHz DDR3 240-Pin SDRAM, but just added another stick of 4GB a few days ago. I think this might have something to do with the BSODs but I don't know how to verify that...

Help us to help you.
carry out following:

Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec (left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

In the System Manufacturer Block, enter:
Ø Manufacturer and Model OR Custom build.
Ø ADD the word laptop, desktop, netbook or tablet.
For example:
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

With Speccy, you can select with your mouse/touchpad info from the display
and paste that info into your specs.

SIW is a marvelous program, but the free version does not offer
this capability.

If you didn't already, then download and install SPECCY.

SPECCY | expand RAM

See that at least the mfg of both modules is the same.

The 2 sticks of RAM are identical.


This 2nd BSOD occured while i was playing guild wars 2.

yesterday, I uninstalled the AMD software for 6870 GPU... and reinstalled it, thinking that the GPU might be causing the BSODs... but they're stilll happening.

While we are trying to determine the source of your problem:

STOP OVERCLOCKING

Overclocking is the biggest source of hardware caused BSODs.

set your bios to defaults.

You are overclocking as revealed by your dump files.

Ohh I think that may be referring to the RAM. My ram is 1600, but for some reason the BIOS had it set at 1333, so I Manually put it to 1600---do you think that could be the problem?

First, stop overclocking which is one of the primary causes of BSODs.

Hmm... I'm not sure why it came up as 3200... The processor is 3.4 ghz, and I did nothing to overclock the processor. Newegg.com - AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ965FBGMBOX is the processor. 3.4 ghz

To be honest, I'm also confused. In a little bit, I may ask you to run a script to see what the script reports.

Have you installed Win 7 SP1 (service pack #1)?
If you do not know:
WIN | type WINVER | ENTER

If you have then update your system specs to indicate that sp1 is installed.

Install CCleaner:

list of STARTUP PROGRAMS

CCleaner | Tools icon | Startup button | Windows tab |
click on Save to text file button (bottom right side) |
accept Startup.txt as file name | SAVE button

list of SCHEDULED TASKS

CCleaner | Tools icon | Startup button | Scheduled Tasks tab |
click on Save to text file button (bottom right side) |
enter Scheduled Tasks as File name | Save button

List of INSTALLED PROGRAMS

CCleaner | Tools icon | Uninstall button |
click on Save to text file button (bottom right side) |
accept install.txt as File name | Save button


UPLOAD, as an attachment, the startup.txt file
UPLOAD, as an attachment, the Scheduled Tasks.txt file
UPLOAD, as an attachment, the install.txt file.

You have just told Win 7 to not run unchecked programs at start up time.

You have not disabled the programs. They will be run when needed.

WIN = key with the Microsoft logo on top

CCLEANER | TOOLS icon | STARTUP tab | SCHEDULED TASKS tab |
Use DISABLE button to disable ALL except for:

CCleanerSkipUAC    Piriform Ltd    "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner.exe" $(Arg0)

Close CCleaner.


REBOOT!

You have not disabled any programs. You have disabled the scheduled running.
Later, after your system is running smoothly, you may reenable desired programs.

REMOVAL OF P2P PROGRAMS

There are signs of one or more P2P (Peer to Peer) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

As long as you are using any form of P2P networking to download files, you can anticipate malware infestations.

BitTorrent
