Hi,

this has been happening for quite a while but very infrequent up until this last week.
I have been trying to sort it out with various ways from this site and others to no avail..
so I have joined here for help.
I now have BSOD nearly every time I shutdown or restart.
I have, but not frequent recently, had a tabtip.exe error at start up but it did show up when I stopped Driver Verifier.

this error 0x00000044 Multiple IRP Requests is the one I always get, its always the same.

the other 4 errors in the minidump files are not usual, I received those only when I Ran
Driver Verifier.

Thanx for taking the time to have a look at my issue. hope it can be resolved

Regards.

Great, I hope it works for you, sometimes it won't uninstall everything, if you get another BSOD, let me know. You can go to C:Windows/System32/Drivers and put in that driver name in the search box in the top right of the screen to search for it. Just type hidfilter.SYS if it is still there, rename it to hidfilter.SYS.OLD and it will not load next reboot.

Ok problem, BSOD again at shutdown, I changed hidfilter.sys to hidfilter.sys.old like you said now I have no mouse or keyboard, no usb all together.
How can I change it back??
Mouse does work if I enter windows recovery, but as soon as I boot windows either normal or in safe mode I can't do anything.. No keyboard in safe mode with cmd either...

You have one Dump file dated 9/26 The link you posted is not a link. Everything I can find out is that hidfilter is an Asus driver developed and digitally signed by Asus, it is not a Windows file.

You may want to try this and download another ISO of Windows 7. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html

So, I have solved the problem for now, but do not have a final fix.

Turns out the problem is something to do with the touch screen, just happened to find by chance a one line comment on some page, the solution is to F2 on startup to dos settings and disable the touch screen function, and have not had a BSOD yet and the computer is running much better.

unfortunately I do not yet have a fix to the problem so that I can turn the touch function back on, am in the process of contacting asus for a driver fix, but...its a bit of a gimmick on a computer anyway.
Cheers.
