BSOD with no error code

Hi

I have a totally blank blue screen after startup, with no error Code at all?!
I have tried to system recovery from command promt but with no luck.
I have also tried to close the computer and Remove battery - also without luck

Anyone? Thank you!

Hello, Annia. I will try to help you. Are you able to boot into the computer at all? Have you tried safe mode? http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/69585-safe-mode.html.

Failing that please boot from the installation DVD and select repair my computer on the second screen in the bottom left corner of the screen. This will tell you how. You can use the Installation DVD or a repair CD which you have made. Try running startup repair. You may have to run it 3 times with attempted reboots in between. Thank you for your help.
I don't have the installation DVD. I did however do a system diagnosis and received the msg error Code: 2000-0142?! I have attached picture of error code.

I have a Dell computer.

Hi Annia, if you will look just below the message in your screenshot, you will see Hard Drive - DST short test Fail. That is the drive self test. You have a failing/failed hard drive. If you can boot at all, I would back up my personal files to an external device. If your computer is still under warranty, contact Dell with that error message and they should replace the hard drive. If it is not under warranty, you will need to purchase a replacement and do a clean install. We may be able to help you with that, but you will need an Installation Disk. I was under the impression that Dell provided those with the computer. I could be wrong though.

Thank you so much for your time and help.
The computer is old my fatter gave it to me, when he wanted another one a a few years ago. I do not remember any installation CD.

I will save what's on the harddrive and then maybe buy a new computer sine the battery is also pretty dead.

You may want to consider a new hard drive or an SSD. An SSD will speed it up considerably. It will not be a waste as it could be used as a drive in a new computer or an external drive for Backups or storage. I have a pretty old laptop that the battery is completely gone. If it stays plugged in, it runs just fine, or as good as that dinosaur is capable of.

Ok, just a thought. An installation disk could be borrowed from someone if it is the same Home Premium and the same either X64 or X86 and use the activation number on your COA sticker on the laptop. The installation files are not what you pay for, the activation number is the license you are paying for.

My boyfriend has a Spitfire to repair harddisk, so we will try that first

I'm not familiar with a Spitfire. But I would try to get my files off before doing anything.
