Error 0x00000101

Heres are the dumps. I couldn't get it to start up in Win7 normal mode anymore and when it tried to repair itself this time the repiar tool bluescreened as well. It may be an actuall processor error. I don't know i"m at a loss.

Error 0x101 keeps popping up but the cause of the error is usually a random ntoskernal or some other item. I recorded about 6 different files that caused it via the Bluescreenviewer application before the system became really unstable.

All of your .dmp files were inconclusive in their analysis... 0x101 .. We need to enable driver verifier to further pinpoint the reason for your crashes...

- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

Thats the tricky part. The system is so unstable with the win7 updates that I can no longer repair. I'll need to do another fresh install and start from square 1 again. I'll get something for you guys as soon as I can. what I do know is before 43 microsoft updates it will stay up 24hours + without any crashes(once I get all my drivers set) I hadn't tried to install any download intensive games or memory intensive games yet though (IE LoL or WoW) Once I install those 43 Microsoft updates (some critical some important) the system will become increasingly unstable until What just occurred happened where when it tries to repair the startup it blue screens.

The only drivers that are affected in the updates after I looked at each one is actually a Fix for a 4gig usb error with Nvidia chipsets that modifies the Windows USB drivers,

There IS a USB controller that Windows does not recognize in my device manager. I have it disabled currently in windows though with the updates it doesn't seem to matter. Also Windows will state that it was unable to install drivers for a generic drive though I have only my RAZOR imperator ( made for win 7) and logitech G110 plugged in.

Very Very Interesting

Well after this install of Win 7 I haven't recieved one bluescreen yet. I've updated the windows updates I was willing too, But i also replaced my Processor fan heatsync with a 3rd party vendor one instead of the AMD that came with it. Either I finally had a good setup, or the fan/heatsync was going out and I needed to replace causing overheating in the Processor itself. Going to try out what you have posted to see if I can get it to bluescreen.

This is a Driver Verifier enabled dump. The error code is A, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. The dump blames dxgkrnl.sys which is a Direct X driver. This is very likely not the actual cause. The system crashed early and that indicates a hardware problem

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000000, memory referenced
Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000000, bitfield :
    bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)
Arg4: fffff80002a9e2b3, address which referenced memory

I find an out of date driver on your system. Windows & does not like older drivers. I cannot say this driver contributed to the crash; but try to update it to eliminate it as a problem. Update it from the NVidia website.

nvsmu.sys Mon Jun 29 03:36:37 2009 - nVidia nForce System Management Controller (nVidia nForce chipset driver) Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Since you are getting the BSOD so quickly and it is pointing to Microsoft files, turn Driver Verifier off. Did you go through any of the troubleshooting procedures in these links?

If not, please do so and report back with what you did and what you found. We will go from there.

thats kind of crazy considering it's a fresh install, and I had downloaded the drivers today directly from the site.

Actually I've gone about this long without a crash since I got a new heatsync and Fan. I've thought about it too. WinXP x32 may have not been utilizing the Full quad core thus causing less heat and the Heatsync/fan I had in there that came with it could handle it (i've heard prior complaints about the fans that come with the quads not being the best) SO when I moved to win 7 it used the full quad which produced more heat and bam. Lock ups due to Overheating processor. I hit the website and apparently The Nvidia driver which was out of date was the HDMI driver that is on the MOBO. So everything is up to date, Win7 is happy with the Temp inside the case and I've yet to actaully have a crash since then. I've been runnin it raggad too trying to get it to crash.

Thank you for reporting back with what you have done. Sure glad to hear you are running smoothly. There is no doubt that heat will cause a crash; I think your diagnosis is probably accurate. Do you think we can mark this one as solved?
