I've been getting random BSOD a couple times a day. I've uploaded my log per the instructions on this site. I cannot read them, could you guys help me out? I fixed one set of problems yesterday that were caused by AVG, but I got BSOD 2 more times today.

Sorry to double post, here is an updated log. I had 3 more BSOD since the last post, and I deleted the ones from years ago.

Update Windows 7 first to see if the BSOD's continue - its a waste of time and effort troubleshooting BSOD's on an outdated installation.

Would that require a fresh install? Or is there actually a way to update it from Microsoft?

Well, after using windows update again, I got BSOD while trying to boot. Did a system restore and solved that issue. I'm in the process of downloading another version of W7 (ultimate 64 bit "retail") just going to do a fresh install. Could you still tell me what the crash dumps said in the mean time while W7 is downloading?

Really?! (facepalm)
Golden didn't said to download SP1 for Windows 7? Yes, he said to download updates from Windows Update, but sometimes SP1 don't appear on Windows Update.

Golden, sometimes people don't understand that you are sayin' to download SP1.

The dumps indicate huge chunks of memory corruption and in-page faults (disk errors). I've never seen such large scale memory corruption. I'm not surprised that Windows Update wouldn't work.

I would remove the drive and memory modules then test them on another system. I'm not sure I'd trust running a chkdsk on your system drive in your system. If it fails, it could permanently toast the drive. Either some memory is bad or the system disk is corrupt, perhaps both.

Added:
A failing motherboard (disk controller) can also cause this problem.

Golden is off line at the time.

I do have questions while we wait for Golden.

Where did you get your copy of Windows 7 Ultimate??

Who installed Windows 7 Ultimate on this computer??

The best I can tell this is a counterfeit Windows 7 install.
OEM/SLP on a retail motherboard.
Bios date in log is 2008 way before Windows 7 was even on the market.

You need to install Windows 7 again with and use the proper COA key to activate Windows 7 properly.

We will be happy to guide you through a proper legal install and activation if need be.

***Golden requested you to get Windows 7 Updates because SP-1 is a Windows 7 update. SP-1 is a must have. You will not get it until you have a properly activated legal Window 7 installed.

When you buy a Windows 7 DVD on todays market it should have SP-1 included on the DVD.

From the log.

I think you may be looking at the wrong specs somewhere. The OP shows Lenovo PC with a Lenovo OEM install.

Golden didn't said to download SP1 for Windows 7? Yes, he said to download updates from Windows Update, but sometimes SP1 don't appear on Windows Update.

Golden, sometimes people don't understand that you are sayin' to download SP1.

You most certainly can get SP-1 through Windows 7 Updates. SP-1 is a update.

You can also go to Microsoft Sites and download and install SP-1 separate download if you choose.

***Do you have SP-1 installed or are you having problems installing SP-1?

I think you're right if I can catch up on your updates. ;)

I noticed that late when I was adding the possibility of a motherboard failure. :o

Oh well. And I was about to suggest he check his Lenovo warranty.

Yep, this thread is toast.

Im in the process of installing a retail version of windows as an ISO image from a trusted source. The windows version I had on was a torrented version, with my oem key from my machine. I had my computer crash on me about 3 years ago and a buddy had an install disc laying around that I tossed on it. The reason I was so confused when he asked me to update is because I was under the impression that the windows version I was running was some form of a beta type and that I needed a full retail release. I didnt know he meant using windows update. Im almost done installing the new retail release of W7 right now.

I was unsuccessful in installing SP1. Whenever I tried, the windows update said "downloading 0kb of 0kb". I ended up getting so frustrated with it I decided to wipe and try again.

This computer is an old Lenovo Think Centre A60 that originally had WXP. The office I got it from paid lenovo to have it updated to 7 when it came out and got a legit key. That version crashed and I explained the rest in one of.my previous comments.
