Hi everyone, Longtime since I posted this forum---good sign!!:D
However, last 3 days had 5 BSOD's--as follows
SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION--(Twice)
INTERRUPT_EXCEPRTION_NOT_HANDLED
MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
and this last one after putting a Flash Drive into a USB Socket
BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER

I checked quite a few Forums--for info on all of these--did all the usual scans for Malware Viruses etc--all clean.
I also ran Driver Verifier---inconclusive--which led to the Startup Repair option--this produced the result--The Computer cannot be repaired automatically etc.
Opened up the box, checked all cables and connections. Took out the Memory Sticks (they were properly locked down), cleaned them (again), and blasted the case out--done only 5 mths ago --and refitted the Mem.
Took out the Heat sinks and blasted them too.
Here's where I noticed the Thermal paste was totally shot--dried out to being non-existant.
Cleaned off all the remnants--recoated, refitted Heatsinks.
I had long had a problem with a loud Cooler fan too. Rebooted.
Since then---24hrs min-- Startup is now quicker--no loud fan AND NO FURTHER BSOD's!:D
That surely isn't coincidence---
I read in one Forum where a guy NEVER used Thermal paste building his own PC's---now even I--a real Computer dummie:o-- know Thermal paste is a MUST for good contact between Processor and Heatsink--to even out the irregularies in both contact surfaces.
Question is---did the application of new paste resolve my BSOD problems??
Appreciate feedback on the Paste point---it definitely seems to have sorted this particular series of BSOD's. thanks,--Robbie

Hi Arc, Thanks for the response.
As indicated in my Post--I'm not the best with a Computer.
How do I find the Crash Dump logs for each BSOD--assume you need all of them---and upload here?
Still no further BSOD's since. Robbie

Hi Robbie77.

As it is an old branded desktop (more or less 8 years old I think), there is no doubt that it deserved a dismantle and cleaning. As it is running OK now, you may have some time in hand to observe two things. First, system temps after cleaning. Have you removed the heatsneak and and applied fresh thermal paste too? Second, What is the wattage of the PSU? Is it enough for the system?

The crash dumps are reporting some driver failure, too. Your USB network adapter (most probably this, I cannot say with certainty as your upload lacks data) is having a driver of 2006 and rightly failing (0xFE). Search for a possible update in Downloads | AVM Deutschland.
If this 2010's driver is also not able to control Stop 0xFE, plan to get a new dongle.

Also, the display driver is failing there and causing BSODs (0x3B). Go to Intel Download Center. Get Intel® Driver Update Utility and update Intel Graphics Driver.

Let us know for any further BSOD.

Hi Arc---thanks for the info my friend. I will try to get those Drivers sorted. As regards the PC--it is a 9 yr old Fujitsu Siemens--bought cheaply a couple of yrs ago to replace faulty HP Pav---Code Purple job that HP refused to repair. That one is now using a different Mobo--Asrock--and runs well. However the Fujitsu has been kept clean and dismantled /reassembled at least twice, so not a dirty machine.
Yes, removed Mobo Heatsink too---originally only Heat tape--burned thro'--cleaned and applied paste.
Had the PSU tested about a yr ago---no problems.
I don't do a great deal with my Computer---no games or anything--. One is used for Photo, Document / Data Storage, and the Fujitsu for Internet searches. No heavy usage, except it runs for long periods.
Another point since doing the check up---on Startup the Desktop would disappear briefly, then come back and be ok. That now doesn't happen, so another irritation cured.
Still no further BSOD's, and running real quiet. Think I'll give the HP the same treatment !
Thanks for your valued comments and advice, Arc. Have a good day! Robbie

That is why we all are here, mate .... to help the other members wherever we can.

As the PC is running good now, let it run. No more troubleshooting is needed right now. If it BSODs again, give us a shout.

Robbie77, in truthfulness, I don't know why it won't install. Please make sure you have the correct driver for your machine. This would be a real gamble, a serious one, but you could try uninstalling the driver you have now and then installing the new one. But, understand, you are risking ending up with no driver at all. Does it give you a reason it won't install? As an alternative, have you gone to device manager, expanded display adaptors, right click and choose properties and select the drivers tab and click on update driver? First time try the internet search. If no newer driver is found, next try the search my computer and guide it to the extracted driver you downloaded and see if it will take it.

Can a system restore minimize that risk, Steve?

Yes, if you do a system image before doing it. It should restore the OS just like it was when the image was taken. A system restore, is pretty iffy, if you know what I mean.

Hello Essenbe,
Thanks for coming in on this. I have run the Intel Driver update again. It finds one Driver to update as follows
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows 7 64 (zip)
Installed is vers 8.15.10.1930
It offers me the newer version 15.12.-75.4.64.1930 dated 10/2/2009
Again downloaded and attempted install, with same result---failed. No reason given.Black screen much worse this time around.
I have checked EVERY item in Device Manager and run the Update Driver option on all, with the same result--the best driver is installed. I can't find anything in Device Manager that Driver Intel is showing as out of date/old.
I guess I am going to leave things as they are, until something goes wrong and take it from there.
It's running well now and no further BSOD's or anything. Should something happen--I'll be back.
Thanks again---Robbie

But surely if Intel Driver update tells me the later Driver is available --it should install.
If it is not compatible to the machine/ hardware installed --it would not be offered.
The Driver Utility checks the installed hardware so as to know which Driver is the correct one, surely?
