BSOD's are scary!

I don't think this should be posted in the BSOD section because it's not a problem that needs solving, but I had a BSOD a few months ago which is why I upgraded to Windows 10 (Just had to do a clean install, the BSOD was caused by viruses), and I want to express my feelings about BSOD's. Mac OS X at least had an animation and was friendly about it:

Your PC had an issue and you need to restart it.

And that was it. With Windows, it's just so sudden and bright blue, and it's fuzzy, and it has this (Mostly) all-caps text popping out at you and all these stuffs that sound scary are happening, like a memory crash dump and "Windows has shut itself down to prevent harm to your computer. and then all this stuff below that only reads for a few seconds before the computer shuts itself down and makes a sizzling noise like it's broken forever. I had nightmares the following nights of the BSOD. I was afraid to be in the same room as my PC (Which was hard, because it was in my bedroom:shock:) and I don't know why. And it doesn't help that they call it a kernel panic.

I have used Windows for 4 years and that was the only time I ever had a BSOD.
And somehow, it scarred me for life (Or maybe 6 years, who knows?)...:o

I also have a webcam in, camera facing away. I only use it so Cortana works. It's the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000.
I agree. Personally I think they shouldn't use any wording that could indicate a problem, and instead of bright blue, it should be rainbow coloured. That way, it wouldn't worry me that much and I wouldn't have to sleep in the garage.

I think a great solution would be to animate the BSOD with butterfly's floating over a green pasture studded with flowering daisy, with a nice message telling me Windows would like to shutdown now, and then restart and I shouldn't worry about a thing.

You guys ideas may work unless you had a graphics driver quit working error. The computer would have problems displaying colors and animations.

The Mac OS X idea is really wonderful. I'm glad they make it so it doesn't frighten you to death. Of course, it doesn't help very much in knowing what the problem was and what you may need to do to fix it. But, heck At least you won't have to sleep in the garage while you wonder why that happened.

Video problems. Does that mean no wet T. Shirt pictures. Darn.

Good news is if you do get the T.Shirt picture with the flowers you probably don't have a Video Card problem.:D

I would like that if the system had a crash, a curtain would come down (Like in OS X), and a box would come up and say there was a problem. Maybe to add some humor, make it say something like "Your computer has bad vision and ran its' car halfway up a streetlamp. It needs to pay the fine and get some new eyeglasses. In the meantime, the computer will be off."
Each time a crash happens, a different message will appear, and under it, it will say somethign like "Don't panic. It's OK." After 20 seconds, the computer will restart and right before the logon screen, it will ask if you want log information, and if you want to copy it to your clipboard.

No, your idea was silly. My idea was way less jump-scary and sensible. Rainbow color and butterflies flying over a pasture studded with daisies? I couldn't see that happening in a million years.

Oh that would actually be really neat! Under the list of programs that would be needed to closed normally would be a list of items that Windows will try to save progress on. At the bottom of the screen, there would be some small text saying the problem, in comprehensible form. For example:
"No more memory left for Windows; System overload."
"Graphics card error."
"Ruined registry"
"No reason, because it is fun :) hehe"

With some nice, slow animations, friendly interface, and no jumpscares, this sounds pretty nice. Maybe in a new service pack (All other versions got 3, and 2000 got 4. Windows 7 has only had one).
And, upon restart, at the user selection and password screens, there is a button at the button to open the log of what happened and another one to copy it to the administrator's clipboard when he/she logs on, to put it on here. When you press the Clipboard button, it gives you the option of doing ^above^ or saving it to "My Documents" on all users or just one user.
