Have been getting BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER crash pretty randomly for about the last month or so. I didn't make any big hardware or software changes so I can't figure out what the problem is. It doesn't seem to be linked to any specific USB device being connected either.

I reformatted my system when the BSOD started, which solved the problem for a few weeks, but it's come back again. I also tried following the USB driver steps (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/165554-usb-driver-general-fix-problems.html#post1417126), which seemed to work for a little while. I followed the tutorial again last night, though, and got the BSOD this morning. Also updated drivers as best I could. The BSOD happens at random intervals--I'll go a week without getting it and then it will crash 3 times in one day.

Any help would be appreciated. I've attached a zip with the dump files (hopefully done correctly).

Welcome aboard, zycer.

First, Turn on USB Selective Suspense.

Then, if you use any USB keyboard and mouse, update the drivers from manufacturer's website.

And, if there are any USB device attached, say bluetooth or external HDD, remove those.

Let us know the situation after that.

Selective suspense was already enabled in my settings and I only sometimes use a basic USB mouse that doesn't have any special drivers. Otherwise I just use the keyboard and touchpad on the laptop and don't regularly have any external devices attached.

Crashed twice more this morning. Once when I closed the lid to put the computer to sleep.

Disable Acronis at startup.
Code:
Acronis Scheduler2 Service "c:\program files (x86)\common files\acronis\schedule2\schedhlp.exe" Public HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Uninstall Asus utility.

Let us know if it changed the situation or not.

Edit, better you disable all the programs at startup.

  • Click on Start button.
  • Type "msconfig" (without quote) in the resulting box. It will open the System Configuration window.
  • Click on the "Startup" tab.
  • Uncheck items > Apply > OK > Accept the restart.
