Hi guys

Can someone confirm that it's a general problem or have I just got a bad D/L.

If I try and UPGRADE from W7 build 7048 X-64 to Build 7057 X-64 it starts OK but after a while (during the expanding files stage) I get error -- some necessary files for installation cannot be copied ......???

Clean install seem to wok.

HA1 and checksums of my iso seem correct.

Actually upgrading from a beta to another beta is not a goood idea anyway but I want to make sure that I haven't got a bad D/L before I try an upgrade from a Vista installation.

Cheers

If 7057 is truely the RC, then it probably does not allow upgrades from a beta version.... but I dont know if that is the case yet as I haven't tried it yet.

can anybody else confirm? I really don't want to install all my programs all over again....

Hi there -- I'll have a look on some other forums as well to see if this problem has occurred already -- it's a pain being the early adopters sometimes

--then I'll restore a VISTA x-64 image and try an update from that.

The X-86 install went 100% smoothly and is running perfectly but I really want to get the X-64 version working.

On a spare machine as I've pointed out CLEAN install is fine but I need to test upgrade on a Laptop with a load of "Corporate" / "Work" type programs installed including access via a VPN.

Cheers

tried to upgrade twice from 7048 64 to 7057 64, it fails whilst 'Upgrading Windows' is displayed on the blue background. Sat there for 15+ minutes doing nothing.

I've upgrade with no issues, like when i upgrade from 7000 to 7048 ;)

Only a little issue with WLM, now solved. I also fixed the desktop.ini at startup.

So out of interest I upgraded 7048 --> 7057 but went and watched the rugby for 90 minutes. Considering that every other install took less than 30 mins, i was amazed that this upgrade took a hr or more.

It freezes at certain stages for up to or more than 25 mins and i have a very powerful pc aswell >.<

No clue why it was 2-3 times slower than any other install but it does work.
