Building custom PC need some help deciding on the spec.

I was planning on SSD but I heard they don't last as long as HDD, so I kinda left it out plus it went over my budget..

No as long as you don't do as much writes as a server would to the ssd, you are actually better getting a ssd if you could increase your budget a bit. You could just use it as a boot drive and save your documents to a data hdd.

SSD will last about 10-15 years under normal use compared to 5 years for a HDD.


I recommend a 128GB for your OS or a 256 GB or greater if you also have lots of games, and a HDD for your data.

The case I got (Gigabyte GZ-G2) does not have a 2.5" HDD bay...

$2.50 adapters, velcro. The early gen ssd's did not have the firmware they do today. Current gen ssd's should out live any spinner. OS on SSD and DATA on HDD is very cost effective and very fast.

Got a 128GB SSD, man super fast. One last question most MB come with protection like short-circuit power-cuts etc. But I still ordered a UPS to avoid any collateral damage my data is really important are UPS still good needed?

oh I got an Asus H81M-Plus
