True that. I've had four Seagates; two failed (one after a year, the other shortly after I got it), one was a disappointment (a SSHD that didn't work out for me), and one that is ok. Conversely, I've owned 15 WDs and only one failed (an early Green that had the head parking issue and failed after a little over a year).

What I said about the warranties still stands.

Stock cooler is fine as long as you don't overclock your CPU and by going through this thread I m sure you won't. At least not soon

A stock cooler is crap in my opinion, having tried both AMD and Intel. They don't keep the CPU cool as it should be and in trying sounds like a jet turbine spooling up.

I agree stock coolers leave a lot to be desired but I also feel a water cooler is overkill unless seriously overclocking. A good air cooler will be plenty good (and quieter), cost less, and will be safer (air leaks are harmless).

Seagate bought out Samsung HDD ( ) so did Samsung design methodology get turfed out?

Industry "rationalization" also happens in the auto industry. The consumer doesn't always get they best end deal.

Most likely, WD will benefit across the board from Hitachi's technology. WD's first 6TB helium filled drives are being sold under a Hitachi label.

Seagate would be wise to do the same.

It all depends if you will be into extreme overclocking. The new closed loop systems are only a tiny bit better than a good high-end air cooler.

A custom built water cooling loop is fairly technical to install and can cost several hundred dollars for the parts.

If you plan on gaming, benchmarking or overclocking to any degree a h2o cooler is the best way to cool the cpu and other components. With a good AIO your system runs very quiet, the gpu fans are the only ones you hear. Add a gpu water block and you can have a stone quiet system.

A good aftermarket air cooler can cool the cpu as well as a AIO but you do have fan noise, some aio's can be pretty noisy too. Do your research before buying.

I am planning to over clock a bit and for gaming.

It is for gaming. I am thinking of buying the thermal take water 2.0 or the corsair H105.

Also the NZXT Kraken X60 is excellent but use the chart on their website to see if it's compatible without modifications. It uses a 280mm rad and two 140mm fans and is what I'm using in my Stryker case currently.

Asus all the way.. I love my AMD setup, but I think you'd have a better experience if you upgraded your ram to 16GB.
