One thing I would suggest for caution: Even though it is not important to get the wiring right straight away, make sure no wiring blocks your graphics card, CPU, NB, or any exhaust fans. I have seen users make this mistake before. A simple twisty tie to bundle the wires away from fans can save you hardware failures due to overheating when a fan is kept from spinning.

You need to tell us what processor you have. Chances are, the CoolerMaster Hyper212+ will work with what you have. It's cheap, and one of the best air coolers out there. You just have to make sure it fits in your case.

Oh and when installing the upgrade/after market heatsink/cooler remember this is the time to clean and re-apply thermal compound and I highly suggest purchasing these two items. In the long run the right tools will continue to serve you well.

1-2°C difference in cooling if that; is not electrically conducive; and much, much easier to work with.

Intel Core i7 3820 Quad Core. I was having a look and came across THIS. Any good? Will it fit my Cooler Master HAF 912 Plus case?

I believe that is a good cooler, and should fit. I have several HAF912s and they are pretty wide...and able to accomdate my Hyper212+ without any issues.

If I am not mistaken, the hyper 212 is 160mm tall, the D14 is 163mm tall. My best guess is if the 212 will fit, the D14 will fit. BTW, I own one and I don't think there is a better air cooler, and it fits my HAF X case with room to spare.

Noctua.at - sound-optimised premium components "Designed in Austria"!

(NH-D14 se2011) for two reasons:

1) it already includes the mounting hardware for Socket 2011
2) it comes with PWM fans, rather than the fixed speed ones of the regular NH-D14

I don't see it at Amazon UK, though.

Yep, I think that's it, 'cause it says in the tech info section that it's fit for the 2011. I think Amazon just did the title badly. I'm actually getting it from Play.com HERE. As you can see they've made its model type a lot more clearer on Play. A tad more expensive, but Play are normally faster with free deliveries and have better customer service.
