Buying PS3 used

My local Gamestation does Pre-owned Ps3s (The older fat type)Some 40Gb models,Some 80Gb models quite cheap...one i seen was only £99 for the 40Gb model.

Ive been wanting to pick up a PS3 for ages now for Blu-Ray and games like GTA IV to run properly but dont really want to splash out £249 for a brand new PS3 as i use my Pc for main gaming.

Would you guys think it would be okay to pick up a used PS3?...Or is it risky like it would be for a used 360?..i heard alot of pre-owned 360s are actually online banned or been messed around with..is it possible for the previus user to have got the PS3 online banned...or does it now work that way for the PS3?

They come with a full 28 day guarantee on all pre-owned products,Not long i know...but i suppose its long enough for any faults to show up.

Hmm... this site is to help people with Windows 7. It's a risk and ultimately the decision is yours. Just like buying anything else used.

I also thought about the risk,But then again ive had both the PS1,PS2 and they all still work so its not like the 360s which are prone to fail all the time.

Well I bought a second hand Xbox 360 from Gamestation and it works fine and they refurbish them all themselves before reselling them, so they're all cleaned out and stuff.

They told me that pre-owned consoles do come with a 1 year warranty for repairs, and you can pay for 2 or 3 year warranty for £25. It's worth going for considering the amount of money you save. Just ask to look at the condition of it in store when they bring it out for you.

And don't say that the PS3 aren't prone to failing. I've seen my friend's crash and freeze enough times from overheating.
