I'm trying to connect to either of two routers I have. With either one I can connect to internet (obviously... I'm typing this). I can NOT connect to the router itself to update the firmware or change the settings. The URL to connect to each:
Netgear WGR614v6, http://192.168.1.1 or http://routerlogin
Belkin F7D1301, http://192.168.2.1 or http://router
Using any of the four connections, I get a "Connection Failed" message, Network is unreachable. I can't tell what's blocking access to it.
I'm using Mobi to filter internet content, but the IP shows allowed
I'm using Avast Antivirus for the firewall, but it's not showing anything being blocked there.
I've also tried disabling Windows Firewall with no luck.
Any suggestions on where to go next?

Have you tried 192.168.0.1?

Run an ipconfig /all from cmd to find out you default gateway.

That's my default on my n/g upstairs.

You are plugged directly into a lan port?

Always do a factory reset

Meh...it's okay
I'll answer your questions, but it's resolved.
- ipconfig /all gave me just what I said above 192.168.2.1 or 1.1 depending on the router
- Yes, I was plugged directly into the LAN port, but I also was connected wirelessly.

The problem was... Internet Exploder. It has it’s own firewall that was blocking it. So, now I have THREE firewalls on here. Avast and its native firewall, Windows has its own firewall that MUST BE turned on (otherwise it’ll ask you “Do you wanna turn it on?” “No.” “OK. Do you wanna turn it on?” “No.” “OK. Do you wanna turn it on?” “OK FINE!”). And finally IE has it’s firewall. Most unfortunate of all: it doesn’t tell you if it blocks things… just does it. *sigh* I disabled intranet firewall protection and magically it appeared. I only found it because (a) my wife’s phone could connect to the configuration which (b) led me to try Firefox, which also allowed it, no problem. *facepalm*

I wish my office didn't force me to use Winblows. I much prefer Linux. Later, folks.

can't connect to internet via router

hello guys,

please help me to solve my problem... i have a router DL-524 which functioned without any problem for 2 years.Today, the internet didn't function on PC with Windows7 home edition and neither on Wifi. i pull out the cable from router and i put it in my computer and the internet is functional. When i put the cable again in my router, the computer doesn't recognize the configuration but Wifi function normally and my laptop with XP on LAN is functionally too.So, what should i do to have connection on my PC with LAN router.

Go through the power cycle steps. First power everything off:

  1. Power off the computer
  2. Power off the router
  3. Power off the ISP modem

Now power everything on:
  1. Power on the ISP modem
  2. Power on the router
  3. Power on the computer
See if that fixes the problem.
