I was using windows 7 fine, then I came back home today, booted up and put on my headphones and realized I could hear (and can as I type) my fingers typing and every noise that passes over the mic on my laptop.

I have no idea what has caused this, and I can't seem to get it to go away.

And I just tested it now and the mic is also playing through my speakers.

if you don't know how to mute the mic, the picture below may help.

ah, thanks for the help, I'll have to try that next time I log on 7.

As it turns out, the person who passed along the disc to me gave me 32 bit on accident and I wasn't paying attention I guess when I installed it. So I think I'm just going to wipe my partition clean and reinstall xp soon anyway.

This kind of matches my posting of about 3 weeks ago about an 'echo' thru my speakers....a problem I am yet to properly rectify.

Every time I want to hear music or watch videos I have to right click on the speaker icon in the system tray, open the mixer fully up, and mute "Internet Sounds". Then I DO hear streaming youtube videos properly and perfectly somehow... or music from a CD or DVD soundtrack is played back fine. If I actually leave that enabled I hear everything twice....on a second or two delay and with reverb....

...bugs me
