Can I add links to the right side of the Start Menu?

You know the right side of the Start Menu, it has links such as User, Documents, Pictures, Music, Games, Computer, ect... I would like to add a custom link to that side of the Start Menu. Let's say I have a folder on "D:\" called E-Books and I would like it to be displayed as a link on the right hand side of the Start Menu.

Welcome to Seven Forums benbalach. I have seen others rename and remap one of the available users folders (Documents, Video, Music, etc.) to accomplish that. But that limits you to the same total number of folders. May I suggest you look at Classic Shell, it has many options for configuring the start menu to your liking, including a cascading all programs menu. It has a nice Windows 7 skin, and you can remove the user picture, etc. A Guy

@benbalach: I do not know of a way to add your own folder to the right side of the Start menu. There might be a way to "force" it in the registry, but it's never advisable to "force" anything - things usually break. This doesn't mean don't ever modify the registry, it means try to use methods provided by the operating system or application first, then think about what you want to do and see if another method satisfies that need. If all else fails, think hard about changing the registry and always back it up before tweaking.

So, I'm going to assume that you want to put that folder in an easily accessible place. I pin things to the taskbar. If you run out of room, just drag the bar up, making it larger.

edit:--> Oh yeah.... how to do this. Create a shortcut on your desktop for the object/location and drag that shortcut to your taskbar. I tried it and since I have grouping on for my taskbar, the folder ended up in my Explorer (windows, not IE) taskbar group. I had to right click the explorer pin and select the new pinned object to get there - if I just clicked on the explorer pin, it opened the default location. So maybe this isn't what you're looking for, but try it, see what you think. You can always fiddle around with other settings (no grouping) if you absolutely need a single item.
