Can I block streaming on my wireless router?

Hello, I have a normal 3 meg modem connection with my service provider. It's the best speed they have for my area. I just do my basic internet things; email and surf the web. I have never streamed movies on my connection to computers or phones, etc. and don't want to. I have family staying with me for a time and they are streaming movies thru the connection on to their devices thru the guest router account. It slows the speed down terribly to a crawl...ugh. Is there a way I can block the streaming on this without losing my normal speed of daily surfing the net? They are using their Netflix account to watch their movies online. I have perfectly good satellite cable TV we can watch movies on in my home. I have a Belkin AC750 Dual-Band Wireless Router. It has 6 categories on the router page; Website Filters, Parental Internet Control, Media Server, Connected Devices, Guest Access and Optional Software. Is there someway I can block the streaming only on this? Thanks for all your wonderful help Windows Seven Forums! :-)

Thank you. I saw the Intellistream tab early in the Media Server section. It is off and has never been turned on. That's good. My main desktop computer is cable attached to the router. Everything else uses the wireless signal. You are saying to block the router with a barrier of some kind, right? I use my wi-fi on my phone around the house too away from the desktop router. I will test it. I covered the router with a metal bucket and am still getting a good signal on my phone across the house. I watched a couple of you tube videos on my phone and they came in fine at the farthest distance I can get. Doesn't seem to slow down with a bucket over the router. Maybe I need a bigger bucket! ha ha ha lol this is making me laugh out loud! That's what you meant...to cover it, right?

metal or cement impede wireless signals so i figured the bucket would work. Guess not. maybe behind the fridge or in a metal drawer? assuming here you don't want to turn off wireless altogether, which is easy enough

My phone at a distance worked fine with the router covered up for a short time. However, within a half hour, I couldn't get a signal. Even my cabled desktop with covered router right next to it wouldn't go anywhere either. You were right. None of my devices would work with the router covered up. Maybe a delayed response, full cashe?? Had to lose the metal bucket for anything to work. Thanks for your time.

haha. I used the metal bucket from my bread machine. It a super thick metal to carry and bake a damn good loaf of bread. lol It covered the router less about a 1/2 inch from the bottom, so not totally, completely covered. Yes, sometime later, I would get 'not responding' on anything I tried to call up on my desktop and the cursor would spin forever. My phone the same. So I won't do that again. Good testing though. I have a DSL line and it divides the signal for every device put on it. Will have to tell them they can't use it for streaming or downloading? movies, just email and surfing. Thank you Johnhoh for your quick response! It wouldn't let me praise you and second time in same post! Thanks!
