Can I change displayed Mfr and Model in the msinfo32 screen?
Attached is a screenshot of what I currently see.
As you can see it is in a VMWare image but I would like to change the manufacturer and model to something like my host system. The reason for this is that I have set up a VMWare machine to play with the "Microsoft support" scammers should I ever receive a call, and I want to hide the fact that is in VMWare.
Thanks

Open regedit and look for VMWARE, change what you find to something else.
Be sure to backup the registry first.
Edit; Look here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System

Thanks for the quick reply
I found a few instances in the registry where a manufacturer and model were specified.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\BIOS
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\Control\SystemInformation
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\SystemInformation
When I reboot all the values revert back to their VMWare settings so it seems that at boot windows refreshes these values from the systems BIOS.
Thanks anyway.

Trying it and doing it are 2 different things, as you`ve found out, it doesn`t work.
This is what mine shows, and you know what ? I don`t even care
I built it, I know what I`ve got

The idea behind System Information was to provide accurate information that could not be changed by some registry entry. Most likely the information is obtained with WMI and where it gets the information from is undocumented. Most likely it ultimately comes from the BIOS.
