Can I eke out a little more brightness?

I purchased a used Dell Ultra Sharp 2007 FP from a company and it had a bad spot on the screen. After several misadventures, I finally got a replacement with the screen in good shape. But after several days, I just get the sense that the brightness level is less than the original, even though I've gone in to the monitor menu and turned the brightness up to max.

Are there any tricks to eke a bit more brightness out of it? Maybe by adjusting the colors up or down, kind of like the e.q. on a sound board? Right now the colors are auto adjusted with all three at 50%.

Hello Roger mate the monitor I assume it came with a CD for the driver? and as I cannot find a Dell support site for that model to get the driver then maybe it can be got through a Windows update or going to the Device Manager and try the update driver for that device. see pic

While in Control Panel you could try changing the power settings see pic

Now I am assuming you also have tried the controls on the monitor itself??

But also it would be nice to know if you have a GPU in that machine too so please follow this
Now before we can help we do need to know what is in your machine so please do this System Info - See Your System Specs
or either enter the specs of your system in your forum profile the specs will appear when we click on that little box bottom left of the post screen it is for me the preferable option as it is easy. As you may appreciate it is very hard when you don’t know what one is working with for example a diesel or petrol engine.

Also go to control panel and color management/ all profiles and see how many ICC profiles there is
I prefer display as rgb personally

Older panels, like from 2007 (which I assume this is from your post), used CCFL fluorescent tubes to backlight the monitor panel. They dim with age, and there isn't much you can do about it other than to replace the tubes. It can be done, but it takes a bit of fiddling. The same thing happens with older non-LED TV's.

I'm not saying that is your problem. Perhaps you can fix it by changing the brightness and color values, but given the age of the monitor, I would suspect that you're running into dim tubes.
