Can I format my PC from Safe Mode? Monitor blank if I normal boot...

When my PC worked fine I would get a graphics driver error but Win 7 would recover from it and I would continue as normal.
Now when I boot, my monitor recieves "no signal" from the PC. The PC boots fine except I cannot see anything. This means that I cannot format my PC because I can't see what I'm doing.
Right now I am in safe mode with network connection and I would like to know if I can format in safe mode, and how do I do this. Thanks in advance.

This isn't the type of problem you solve by reinstalling, except as a last resort.

Have you updated or reinstalled your Display driver in Device Manager? Let us know the exact device make and model and the driver version date and number you are running. If there isn't a newer one, uninstall the current one in Device Manager and reboot the PC.

To check for the driver Win7 wants, enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3)
then Check For Windows Updates and install all Important and Optional Updates as there may also be performance patches needed for your display.

Otherwise check for the latest driver on the PC or Display device model's Support Downloads webpage.

It would be best if you choose to reinstall to boot the Win7 installation Media to Clean Install Windows 7. Let us know if this method works.

Did you build your own PC? If not what is the make/model?

When did the problems begin with the display?

Have you tried updating the drivers, then if that didn't help reinstalling the video card?

I just finished updating the driver, it didn't work last time I did this, but I have my fingers crossed.

A friend built the pc.

Intel Core I5-2400 CPU 3.10 GHz 16GB RAM. Windows 7 Ultimate, Service Pack 1.

I'm not sure when the problem started, I didn't pay much attention to it because windows used to recover the issue quickly.

When you say reinstall Video Card, I imagine you mean physically removing it?

Updating the driver didn't work.

Now, when I go to safe mode my keyboard doesn't work (this has happened before also).

This means I cannot enter my pc login password in safe mode. I am on our old pc at the moment.

Win7 shouldn't have to recover like that. The error should have been googled as soon as it appeared to read and apply how others have resolved it.

Boot into System Recovery Options on the Win7 installation media or System Repair Disk to run Startup Repair which should offer to System Restore. If not and it fails to repair WIn7 then boot back in to run System Restore to a point before the problem began.

The installer is provided in Steps 1 and 2 of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7) to run Startup Repair. You will need to download the RTM version and later install SP1. Use the tools in Step 2 to write to bootable flash stick or burn to DVD.

Set the Win7 installation media first to boot in BIOS setup: How to Boot A Computer from CD or DVD - YouTube

If this fails try resetting the BIOS to defaults in BIOS setup: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

If that fails use the flash stick installer which should auto load when its selected first to boot in BIOS setup.

If nothing works then try a new keyboard.

You can also rescue your files with a disk that boots itself: Paragon Rescue Kit Free Edition 11.0 Free CD, Burn CD with WIndows Image Burner.

Then the Win7 installation media should boot itself to start install.

However I would reinstall the video card first to see if that resolves the problem.

I can't "repair my computer"(on boot) because my keyboard isn't working. Even though the numlock light on it is on.

Have you taken the video card out and tried to run off the motherboard graphics ?

Shutdown everything, disconnect the cord from the power supply, take out the video card, pull the 24 pin power connector off the board, give it 5 seconds and plug it back in.

Leave the video card out and plug your monitor into one the motherboard graphics ports.

Unplug the keyboard and then plug it back in.

Turn on the pc and see what happens.

After following your instructions, AddRAM, everything works great, except my games which crash(Hearthstone).

My PC was full of dust, includin my ASUS video card.

How can I get my video card to work again? (I'm really glad my PC is working again)

I have no idea why your games are crashing. What cpu does the pc have ?

Well, if you want to use the card, I would just start all over, delete any software and drivers you have installed now, then put the card back in and this time just let windows install the drivers.

See what happens.

If things are working without the Video Card, that might mean it is time for a new one.
